Hi, I'm Venom420, and I sold out. It was almost a year ago I created this thread, and I figure that I my as well update it. The script has been sold, for a very, very, very, small amount of cash, and the script has been buried. At the moment, there is zero interest in a solo GL movie. I took the money.
In the last year, I've moved away from screenwriting, and I've been pushed in the direction of writing my own novels, which I find a much happier process, and that honestly, I'm better at it. I get to write what I want, I play around with concepts, I take my characters in the direction that I want. I want write a novel for as many genres as I can. I haven't been on this site in for nearly eight months because I've actually been WORKING!
My first big release is Tuesday, December 4th, and the book is called Weekend Warriors, and it's a comedy that is slightly based off my college years at Ohio University, where the weekend started on Thursday night, also known as Thirsty Thursday, due to little or no classes on Friday, and it covers the lives of five college students over the course of time between Thirsty Thursday and Sunday night. It's a simple concept, not much to it, I hope and think it will get some laughs, if anyone even buys it.
The novel thats taking up most of my time at the moment is about a mentally ill Gulf War veteran returning home and trying to lead the normal life that he knows he will never have. I don't have a title yet, which is pissing off my publisher, and me. I have written a few other treatments for other novels that I have in mind. I'm playing with idea's for a romantic novel and a period piece horror novel, but I'll get to them when I get to them.
I would love to one day sit down and write BOOKS about Superman, Green Lantern, and Flash. I love Batman, but I don't really want to work with the character that much. But I would love to write a long, detailed, in-depth, character driven book about those three characters. A big, 400 page book. No pictures, just words. That would take the fun out of it for alot of you, but I'd love it. One day, I'm making this happen.
I love taking characters and putting them in a dark, bleak world, and then making them fight and scratch there way up from that dark world just to see a glimmer of the happiness and joy that can be had, the good in life. I love having the dark world, but that one ray of light. I would love to take the character of Superman, and put him in a dark, dangerous world, and feature him as that beacon of hope for the good people in the world. I think it could be really powerful if done right.
I'm much happier writing novels than screenplays. I have two bachelor degree's, one in Creative Writing and one in Telecommunications Video Production. It's sad that only one will probably be used. But I'm much happier this way, not having to deal with the bullsh^t of film studio's.
Until next time......
