The Green Lantern movie thread

Here are scenes of the Green Lantern movie I have written with Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern Sinestro his mentor soon to be archnemesis and also including Caroll Ferris as the love interest and Hal's boss. I will be posting more.

I was thinking for the intro it be all green and a sweet theme that might rival Superman's or could be as great as it.

Scene 1 "Intro and Dad's Death" This is where Hal talks about his dad the relationship and with him at the Ferris Air Force Base where he flies and then is Death.

Scene 2 "Years Later and Air Force Academy" We flash foward to Hal Jordan recieving a lecture and that little screen that says Ferris Air Force Base where he is told about the new airplane simulator he will test out

Scene 3 "Hal is selected" Hal then is testing the latest airplane simulator where Abin Sor's ship crashes like the comic origin is shown week and tells the power ring to find the best replacement and choose wisley. It doesn't take long for it to eventually find the Jordan and the simulator takes off in the air flying and lands close to the ship in the middle of the dessert.

Im danm shure that if you do a survey most peoiple will say Hal jordan, and a few collage kids will say John Stewart confusing him with Jon stewart

Based on what? Wishful thinking? I got it, Hal Jordan is sooo willful, even people who have never heard of him, nor had a reason to, will just magically know who he is? Get real dude.

I've got a better experiment for you... show people a picture of the John Stewart promo art that's been everywhere on everything for the past ten years, and then show them the Alex Ross Hal Jordan, and see which one people have seen before... I guarantee you... it's not Hal. There's simply no point of contact with Hal and the mainstream.

That said, someone actually came up with a REAL point earlier, about popularity not being a good deciding factor, and I say: Kudos. The lantern picked should be based on what kind of story you want to tell, what kind of movie you want to make.

I would agree that if they use John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, or any other Green Lantern besides Alan Scott and Hal Jordan then they have to use Hal in a preequl which I don't want to see. Anyways I thought of one last candidate for Hal Jordan. James Mardsen. He pulled off playing Cyclops in the three X Men movies and I am sure he could pull off Hal Jordan Green Lantern.

Also the two to three points that prevent a Green Lantern tv series from being made are
1. With so many Green Lanterns there would be a struggle with when to bring each one in and which one to focus on.
2. Copyrights for Green Lanterns and their characters all belong to different owners. That would be a lot of copyrighting.
3. Which Green is suppose to be the lead Green Lantern.
I would wish that they could do an actual series and get Hal's victory over Mongul in there. I would also like to see him in updated animation and longer than the brief appearnce on Justice League Unlimited. Not to mention seeing the more intense battles with him and Sinestro now that the times have changed.

Wow GR87...
It's funny that you bring up Jimmy, great actor, I think he'd be a great Hal, and help break people out of casting current age appearance for origin stories. But in X-Men, there was never even mention of a preview to go back and see when the X-Men started, or who was the first team... it was just: Hey, the X-Men exist... I don't see why a Hal Jordan prequel would be anymore necessary than an X-Men prequel (which I would love, btw)

As for a TV series.
1) Ensemble Cast, and there's really only 5 or so 'starring' lanterns, narrowing it down is as easy as knowing what kind of show you want to make.
2) All owned by the WB
3) There is no lead GL... they're ALL responsible for their given sectors... the partner who has been around longest is the senior partner...

Honestly, Timm and company could do a WW: TAS to revive the universe, imho. There's massive amounts of untapped potential there.

I agree. Green Lantern is the only super hero of the Super Friends not to get in his own movie, tv series live or animated. While Batman has had the animated series original and the new one with superman batman adventures and then superman the animated series and the same as above. Wonderwoman had her own live tv series with Lynda Carter playing the amazon princess and then Flash had his own live series using the cururnt Flash that lasted for one season.

Considering you said there would be five different Green Lanters then assuming we would have 12 episodes a season this could last for more than I think 100 episodes or more. There are plenty of storylines they could do.

So I am up to scene 8 in the Green Lantern movie. It is coming along very well and I can't wait to post the rest.

That's because the X-Men films started at pretty much the same place the comics started. Wolverine's introduction was a logical starting point for the film, and happened ridiculous early in the comics. You'd have a point if the starting line-up for the films was full of new members and didn't include classics that everyone wanted to see... or if they'd negated the possibility of anyone but Beast having been there earlier (Angel obviously just met the team, Colossus and Iceman were too young).

Going by what the films established, a prequel could contain no more than Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, Beast, and maybe Banshee. And I dont think one new character is worth it really.

Comparing that kind of situation to Hal Jordan is just ridiculous. Leaving out the time between the first issue of X-Men and Wolverine's introduction isn't even close to leaving out the decades of stories about Hal Jordan and just jumping into John Stewart's story.

Personally, I just dont get this desire to turn a comic series into a film, but headline it with a supporting character.

Well, if Angel can come after Wolverine, then there's nothing to stop Psylocke, Bishop, Polaris, Havok and a host of others from appearing before Wolverine. And I don't know what 'new characters' has to do with 'worth.'

Why is the comparison rediculous? Cuz you just feel like it? :whatever:

John is a supporting character? News to me. I guess I better burn these comics and TV shows he stars in, huh?

Does every GL thread have to turn into a Hal/John debate? Seriously...

You seem to be confusing what "should" happen with what "did" happen. You seem to forget that X3 was worthless trash, and that Angel's random 5-minute cameo was not one it's better points. So there IS something to stop Psylocke, Bishop, Polaris, and Havok from appearing before Wolvering, and it's the same thing that should've stopped Angel from coming after Wolverine. (Also, Psylocke was in X-3, and she was very, very lame).

Sure. I guess if you were cold you could get a couple seconds worth of heat out of that.

Seriously, if it weren't for JLU the idea of a John Stewart film would be about the same as the idea of a Tomar-Re centered film.

I think that John Stewart could be the Green Lantern in the Justice League movie. Hal Jordan the Green Lantern for the Green Lantern movie series. Then Kyle Rayner for the spin off of Ion. Alan Scott's Green Lantern movie as a preequal for the Green Lantern movie series.

Personally, I'd do at series of films that start with Hal, then bring in more characters as it goes. As for Justice League, it would all depend on when it got made. Use whoever would make the most sense with what's going on in the solo series.

With what is going on in the solo series Hal Jordan would probally be up on the big screen since he earth's Green Lantern in the third volume of Green Lantern.

I can't disagree he does have the acting chops, talent, and looks to pull Hal Jordan the Green Lantern off. His hair color from what I saw in Firefly and Serinity is brown the same has Hal. All that is left is probally for him to gain some more muscel.

In Serenity, he was already pretty muscular (bulk him up more and he'd be too muscular for the role). Fillion would need to lose a bit of weight, though. He's not fat or stocky or anything, but I always picture GL (any version) as slightly thinner.

As for James Marsden, he's got the looks but none of the movies that I have seen him really test his acting abilities. He'd look perfect in the suit, no doubt, but I think NF has both talent and the look for GL. If the WB ever get the project off the ground, I hope the filmmakers pick him for the role.

The movie should be based on Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn with Scott Porter from "Friday Night Lights" as a young Hal Jordan.

I am sure that NF was the top pick for the poll this year in Wizard for who should play Hal Jordan Green Lantern. If they want Hal to be more human they will probally do the Emerald Dawn revamped origin but I would really want to see the original. The only thing left for Fillion would be to get the top trainer that Brandon had in Superman Returns should this movie ever get out of production hell and DC finally realize that they can make money other than just their main top super heros Batman The Dark Knight and Superman The Man of Steel. I would mostly expect possibly to save money and get a unknown for both Hal Jordan Green Lantern and Sinestro. I can't think of many currunt actors that can play him that would be in about the same age range has actor playing Hal Jordan.

Just thought I would post this.
When Green Lantern was redesigned with hal Jordan as the ring wearer they based the characters on actors.
Hal Jordan/Green Lantern was based on Paul Newman

and Sinestro was based on David Niven

Thanks for posting that. I knew that Hal Jordan was modled after actor Paul Newman but I never knew that Sinestro was modled after anybody. But I will on Super Heros being modled after real people they made Ironman as a Super Hero version of Howard Hughes. Although people have said I have seen Tony and Howard and as far as looks with the face and all they dont look alike, the answer for that I am sure that his physical appearnce wasnt modled after him because they do look different with the face although both also very expensive fancy suits.

Makes me wonder about Carol Ferris and alot of other Green Lantern characters.
Actually makes me wonder about lots of other comic book characters.

Probably. Or a Hal/Kyle debate. There's probably even a Hal/Alan debate somewhere.

Look no further than my signature to see who I support for Hal Jordan.

Nathan Fillion would make a good Hal Jordan, or a good Captain Atom I think, in terms of looks anyway. He is also a good actor.

Ok did someone say that Jim Cavizel should be Hal Jordan? Because if they did the person would be way off because he no where comes close to looking the part. If they made a Blue Beetle movie then he could play the newer version of him since the newest Blue Beetle is Latino.

On Fillion as Hal Jordan I agree with you 100 percent. He has the look, along with the acting chops, talent, and depth to pull off bringing Hal Jordan to the big screen and his alterego Green Lantern.

I noticed if they do known stars and not unknwons for this movie who would make one hell of Sinestro and has the same look with the same facial expression. Ian Mcshane who has stared in the popular western HBO tv series Deadwood. He has to get shave the goatee

i can see him in the role but i think Sinstro should be a fairly slim, tall man though

Ok it has not been signted on a dccomics webpage or said from anybody that has to do with creating Cowgirl Jillian Perlman yet but the very hot blonde that Hal has been trying to date in Green Lantern Volume 3 Now she looks like Jessica Simpson.
