I think so far the suggestions for Carol Ferris have been Jennifer Connelly and Kate Beckinsale. Lauren Graham has a similar look to Carol but I'm not sure she could do the Star Sapphire aspect.

I know some guys said Gary Oldman for Sinestro. That would be cool but I'm not sure it'll happen, not with Gary as Jim Gordon in the new Batman films.

I think he could do it. I mean, I normally am against one actor playing multiple comic characters, especially in the same universe, but I think Gary Oldman's one of the few actors who could pull it off. His range is so incredible, he could play these characters and some people might not even realize it's the same actor. Especially when one character has a giant moustache and the other is purple.

Also, last time I checked Gary Oldman has sworn off villain roles. Something to do with typecasting I think... try again.

Any movie you do with "not Hal Jordan" is envitably going to use Hal's origin or something similar to it. Just stick with Hal.

I think a GL movie shoudl use Hal's origin as the base and then you can introduce secondary characters in the same movie, ya know Stewart, kilowog, etc.

The thing that makes GL soooooo Cool is that it isn't just one guy. Its 7200 of them throughout the universe. Its in the best interest of the movie to include a couple other earth GL's at least in some sort of secondary capacity, I mean Law & Order have multiple detectives shown coming in and out of the story. Why can't a GL movie have 2 or more Earth GL's conversing with Hal over strange happenings in sector 2814.

Nothing about that would be difficult to explain. These are my fellow GL's, they happen to be from earth. They watch my back. End of Story. You learn about characters from the decisions they make and watching them on screen. Part of the GL magic is watching those personalities bounce off of each other. This would rock so much harder than Batman of Superman.

Green Lantern is King.

...You know...That makes perfect sense! Why NOT have all of them (except Kyle) in the same movie? Just have the movie star Hal.

Another way to do it is have the movie star Kyle instead and have Hal be the legendary Green Lantern/prodigal Son that returns as a villain.

I can't really see Courtney Cox-Arquette as Carol Ferris/Star Sapphire.

I'd like to see Alan Scott involved somehow even though there's no way he'll be the star.

I think for the first Green Lantern movie it is important to emphasise to the general audiance, non-comic and comic readers, that Hal is not the only Green Lantern in the entire universe.
But I think it would be too confusing and overkill to not only introduce Hal but also introduce Guy, Jon, Kyle, Alan, Killowog, Abin Surr, the Guardians, and others.
I think for the first film they should introduce Hal, of coarse, the Guardians, and maybe a few other GLs like Killowog (since he was Hal's teacher), and Abin Surr (since he dies at the starts, giving the ring to Hal).

I could see some of the other characters being background characters at first. I can see Alan, Jon, (but not really Guy) as a side character who becomes a bigger character later in a sequal or something.
For example, Alan Scott.
I can see Alan being a background character for the first film (no mention of his GL past and no costume),
and then maybe in the second film (or later in the movie) it is revealed that he was once a Green Lantern too.
Sort of like a retired cop, no costume and no ring, but he is still around to help out if he can and mentor Hal in any way possible.

I could also see Jon being a background character too, maybe someone who isn't focussed on too much, or maybe he takes the spot of Alan's character (as someone who is a side character, whose character is expanded on later in a different film).
So maybe Jon is a architect hired by Faris Air (name?) or something, somehow get him to be in contact with Hal. He could even be a good friend of Hal's.
But for this idea to work in the film (for Jon Stewart's character) his origin and past would have to be changed and altered. Thats why I suggested Alan Scott and first.
If John is introduced in the 1st film as a good friend of Hal's, then him getting chosen to be the next GL might loose some impact on how deserving Jon really is. (people might think, Oh he just got the ring because he is Hal's friend. Unless the movie really shows what a hero Jon is without the ring before he gets it.)

His character expanded on in the 2nd film, putting him in a situation where he has to risk his life and be very heroic (like a Die Hard movie situation). (Audiance can't question his worthyness then.)
Third film he is the new GL (maybe gets the ring in the start of the 3rd film, or at the end of the 2nd.):gl:

I'm not so sure. My problem with the idea of a Green Lantern movie including every person who has wielded the ring is that I think it is too much for one movie.

Got this over at IMDB from this poster cboggs68 and I think it's a rather smart way to approach things.

"The More I think about it, It might be possible to have all three in a movie... not the first of course but in a franchise three could work if they decided to include the GL Corpse. You have Hal as the fearless leader...(that possibly goes bad) I would have John as the respected older GL. Then Have kyle as the new recruit."

Green Lantern as a TEAM movie instead of focusing on just one...It could be rather interesting and it would please everybody I'm sure (unless they're just selfish and want their character to be the focus ).

If you show other GL's in the first one it should be Kilowagg, Katma Tui, Ch'p, and G'Nort .

I always kind of felt having several human GL's was pretty hokey.

Do you think WB would even touch Washington after all that controversy nonsense over him using the "F" which ultimately got him fired from "Grey's Anatomy"? Of course, I'm sure he would find it a wonderful revenge on the network that fired him: from enesemble TV role to multi-million dollar film.

Isaiah Washington is already starring in his next project, not to mention the one that was announced that I can't remember. He's probably working RIGHT NOW. Not to mention the fact that he's pretty danged good and the controversey was pretty quick and quiet... I don't think it made a single tabloid.

That said... you can't touch on 60 years of comics with a franchise if you insist on focusing on the eleven Stewartless years for a whole movie.

Except that's what will and has happened. Hal Jordan's origin IS the introduction of Green Lantern to Earth. Not John Stewarts or Kyle's, or Guy's as interesting as they may be (and DON'T bring up Alan Scott, he isn't included in this). Any movie that starts with "Not Hal" is just going to have Abin Sur crash, and whether or not they use test pilot or architect or newspaper artist or comic junky or "Fear Factor" contestant, that's how the movie will start. And it will ignore previous Green Lanterns in the process.

Can you imagine what would happen if Denzel Washington or Will Smith were cast as John Stewart? It would probably turn into a vehicle for them and not the GL mythos as a whole.
