The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Hans Zimmer Score thread - Part 1

April 22nd seems so late

With the movie premiering the 10th and releasing overseas the 16th(18th?) it seems weird for it to be released after the movies' release. Or maybe not, but I always thought soundtracks were released a good bit before the film in most cases

See, I absolutely hate the beginning, but like it when the Alicia Keys kicks in... I know most people don't like the retro sound, but I actually like it. Assuming this song is in the credits, to me it instantly gives this movie a 'classic' feeling.. I hate when movies are strictly in the zeitgeist(if thats the appropriate word here) of their time. It almost instantly dates them... So this is kinda cool imo

I didn't like the begging either at first, but after I listened it a couple of times, it grew on me. You need to pay attention to the lyrics. I hope this helps.

I gotta say, I'm really pumped for this soundtrack! Judging from the 30 second samples, it sounds like every single track is gonna be fantastic. Every one. Except maybe the 'within this web' song, not feeling that one so much. Keep replaying the Alicia Keys song tho, good stuff! :yay:

Love me some kendrick :) awesome song. Glad we have so much talent in this movie.

WAs really looking forward to the Alicia Keys song, but it kind of sucks. Beginning's great, the rest is bland.

It's grown on me. And it did, thanks

Are there 30 second samples out?!

They were out on Amazon, but they were turned down.

Personally, when I heard this song, in first 40 seconds I was like GOD DAMN THIS IS AWESOME I WILL BREAK EVERYTHING and then when the second beat dropped I was just like WHAT THE--- ... This could easily be one of songs like Lose Yourself or Till I Collapse, something that pumps you up, but it didn't. This merge doesn't work as a standalone song. Maybe in the movie it will, I can imagine Spidey beating the crap out of some crooks in the last scene with the Kendrick's part, then switching to after credits and Alicia's verses. That could work.

lol That song isn't going to play during any parts of the actual movie. Oh my god I would laugh my ass off if Spidey fought Rhino with Kendrick rapping in the background (and not in a good way).

Webb has always been spot on with the songs that he uses in his movies. Look at 500 Days of Summer or TASM. I'm sure the song will be edited in order to fit the context of the scene.

Same. It'd be great. Nice avvy btw.
There was a small piece of score that played during Earth Hour this weekend and it sounded like the main theme in a "reprise-y" type piece. I thought that would be played at the end of the movie.

But lyrically it does fit the end of the movie especially if
the Gwen death is true, and he goes to fight Rhino. It actually makes a lot of sense. Seems like that's the lesson they were going for.

Yeah, heard that one yesterday or something. Sounds freakin' awesome.

And thanks. I finally hit 1000 posts yesterday, so I thought I'd make myself a nice avvy. I'd expected to be able to use 100x100s, but 75x75 will have to do. :woot:

Yeah, the lyrics are pretty much screaming it in our faces.

The lesson seems pretty deep but so perfect for Spider-Man. Webb seems to really get it.

I checked recently, and it used to be that when you hit 2000 posts, you can use a 100x100 but I think that may have changed.

You need 2,000 post, and you need to be on the hype for 6 months. That's why I'm still stuck with a 75x75.:csad:

Marc Webb said, when he was asked about this collab, that they wanted to have a fun song to end the movie and I'm pretty sure it will play on the end credits.

I agree that the merge between Kendrick and Alicia is a bit sudden, there could have been a better transition really... an unusual combination, but still enjoyable, for me anyways, I know there are those who disagree haha

So, I don't know if the rest of the score comes out tomorrow, I haven't read the thread, but oh god, the Kendrick Lamar part of "It's On Again" is HORRIBLE. Out of beat, tone, sense and ****.

The rest of the song is pretty cool.

It appears that people are divided once again. There are those who like the Lamar part and those who loathe it. I actually belong in the first category. I didn't like it at first either, but after i listened to the song a couple of times, it grew on me. So, i'm gonna give you the same advice that i gave to a another user.

Listen to the song more and in the Lamar part try to focus on the lyrics. This might help.

Too bad the rest of the song belongs in the 80's...

I know right? The begining gets you all pumped and in a fighting spirit then it slows down and makes feel like dancing under a disco ball. I dont care. im pretty sure they'll play tonight alive at the credits and Its on again. I still think Kendricks part was the best part.

Cant wait for the soundtrack.

The song plays during the end credits. This was confirmed by Marc Webb, so...
