I think I remembered reading something about Bateson not wanting to do the movie.

And he is Hitman, Olyphant is acting as Bateson's alter ego. :o

I remember he really, really wanted to do it and it was on a website, just can't remember which one the information was posted on. During his strong campaign they gave the role to Vin Diesel, who dropped out from the role and Olyphant was announced as the lead character.

BlLLaaaahHhH, f**king IMDB boards. It's a damn shame he didn't get the part, he'd have rocked that s**t. Well, I guess if you look at this like a biography, that'd be like casting the person it's based on as the person.

I just bllllewwww my mind.

Yea, im with u guys, i think Bateson wouldve been the MUCH better choice. The only conclusion i can come to is that they wanted somewhat of a name to go along with the movie. Olyphant's name might not be as big as others but its deff bigger than Batesons.

from what i've seen, that doesn't take much. :o

WoooOooOOord, I need to buy some more replacement head replacers... there goes another one. :csad:

Hahah, I don't get why they're trying to hit a wider audience all the time when it turns off most of the people who wanted the thing made in the first place. Frik.

After watching the trailer again in quicktime, I really like how he's moving. Very mechanical. Rockin'. Olyphant might not be the perfect Hitman, but I think he'll be able to pull it off.

Ok, it's getting kinda annoying now. Just because one actor managed to pull off a role, that doesn't automatically mean that everyone will be able to do the same.

And so far the main concern isn't whether he'll be able to pull it off or not, but that he looks way too nice.

No, it doesn't. It means that you(in the plural sense, please don't cry) should wait to see the film before you ***** about it, and should shut the hell up until then.

Daniel Craig is blond for Christ's sake! Not to mention ugly.

i am nto against actors before the movie comes out.

but for example look at bale. this guy looks like a badass on set. he looks like a killer.

this actor to me doesnt. and if we would now watch pics from (my name is earl) i would say nothing.

but this are shots from the movie. and hes face is not right. he looks to me like he wants to smile.

plus i expect an action movie.......and hitman should nto be an action movie.

And you think when I see the final product he'll suddenly don't look like a nice guy anymore or what? I'm not judging him on his performance, that's something I'll judge when I see the final Movie.

And so far I haven't *****ed about the Movie. I even said that the Teaser looks nice, I'm still looking forward to the movie. But I still think that Olyphant looks too nice. If you call that *****ing and crying, ok then.

Thats a rubbish excuse they gave.

Olyphant a big name??

He's not that a big name in my opinion.

I mean, if WB could go along with a complete unknown in Brandon Routh for a 200 million dollar superman movie,

They should have gone with Bateson for Hitman.

I mean, its not as though Hitman is a super big budget movie is it?

This casting decision is pathetic.

We have the proper actor available, and he wants to do the role, yet he gets screwed.

What a disgrace.

After seeing all of that, LastSunrise, I've come to the conclusion that Bateson got screwed.

:down

Second that,

what an absolute disgrace.

Just from that short clip, you can see Bateson is right for the part, just his look and demeanour.

Bateson IS Hitman.

And Olyphant looks like a kid in that teaser trailer,

compared to Bateson.

I've never seen such awful casting decisions made like this !

He's enough of a big name that you can say "He's that guy that played X on Y" and not get blank stares back. Especially thanks to the new Die Hard movie. With David Bateson there's not a single movie or series you can reference to make people go "Oooooh".

I mean, if WB could go along with a complete unknown in Brandon Routh for a 200 million dollar superman movie,

The difference is everyone already knows Superman, so the actor that plays him doesn't need to be even slightly known, the Hitman games have nowhere near the same recognition to the masses.

Put simply, the studio will want some kind of "Aha" factor (for general audiences) for any movie they're putting out.
A Hitman movie starring Bateson would not have this.

bateson looks to old for 3 movies.
you have to have a young actor.

Nice trailer... I'm hearing good things about the script.

...Bateson is pushing 50...

Nothing make-up couldn't fix. All they would have to do is use the technology that was used for X3. You'd be surprised how well a 50 year old man can move when he's kept himself in pretty good shape.

Bateson deserved to be casted and I was hugely against Vin Diesel, and I'm very strongly against Olyphant as Agent 47. Granted there's nothing that can be done about it right now. He's casted, the teaser is released, and the film will be released very soon.

I just feel Fox should've given Bateson a chance.

Having watched the trailer in decent res it has a very polished look and captures the feel of the games IMO,only problem is Olyphant looks very young

More bad casting from a Fox movie. What a surprise. Does Timmy look anything like this?

hitman_front.jpg

NOPE. Looks like a little kid with his head shaved. They needed a younger Willem Dafoe or someone with a more grizzled, world-weary look.

I have a feeling this is going to be Daniel Craig as Bond all over again...

I don't know how much money this movie has, but do you really think they have the money to waste on de-aging an actor throughout the entire film?? It's not the easiest thing to do, and as you saw in X3 it was for one small scene.
Bateson looks too much like a skull, his face is very mishapened. I understand 47 was based on him, but they definetly changed him up to give 47 a unique look.

What Hitman's Agent 47 Learned from McClane

If you go to see Live Free or Die Hard this week, you might want to get there early to catch the new trailer for Hitman starring Timothy Olyphant, who plays the baddie in Bruce Willis' movie and will also star as Agent 47 in the movie based on the popular video game.

When ComingSoon.net sat down with Olyphant before the New York premiere of Live Free or Die Hard last week, he told us how "Die Hard" became a good learning experience for headlining his own movie. "The conversation about 'Hitman' actually came up in conversation even before we started shooting this. It all happened fairly quickly. It's the same studio, and it was quite flattering, by the way, that they would consider me for one of those projects, let alone both, so that was really nice being able to work for the same people back-to-back, that they seemingly had confidence in me for both. It's exciting. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't. I'm thrilled."

"I don't know if it would be fair to say that it got me more excited about the movie at that time," he continued. "What it did was that I remember feeling like I was paying closer attention to Bruce, learning from him, knowing that I was going to go into the 'Hitman' movie, not having ever been in that position, that kind of vehicle, not that it's comparable to 'Die Hard,' but it was the first time that I was going to be in that position, first on the call sheet on an action film and try to carry it. Not necessarily about the acting and that part of the job, but just how he handles himself on the set, and how he deals with… he's quite involved in everything. He's quite invested in everything. He's very smart and he is very calm, and he knows how to handle (things). He's just been-there done-that, so as much as I could, I remember countless times on the 'Hitman' set asking myself, 'Well, what would Bruce do? How would he handle this?' And that was great. I was very lucky to have this (movie) precede that. It's new territory for me, and really, traveling with Bruce the last couple weeks and going to Berlin and London and seeing him handle these events and these press conferences and the international journalists and for me to have this experience before 'Hitman' came out is an incredible education and very, very helpful."

In the last few years, Olyphant's become more recognizable for his role playing Seth Bullock on HBO's "Deadwood," which was recently cancelled, and we wondered whether there were still plans to continue the story into a series of movies as originally planned. Olyphant was doubtful. "I have no idea. There's been ongoing talk about those things for a long, long time. I, for better or for worse, have the perspective of 'don't hold your breath.' My feeling is that the fact that show existed at all for as long as it did was a miracle of sorts. It was an incredible experience, and I'm very, very thankful, and as a fan of the show like everybody else, it would have been nice to see it end in a different way or have more life to it, but as far as I'm concerned, they don't owe me anything. It was a tremendous experience, I look at it that way. I walk away going, 'I must be a better actor because of that show.' Three years on TV is better than seven years on TV, you know?"

Hitman is scheduled to open on October 12.
