I don't know how accurate Wikipedia is on the subject, but it says the movie version of Agent 47 (the titular character) is someone that was TRAINED to become an assassin whereas in the video game, he's a genetically engineered and enhanced clone. Also, in the movie, apparently the tattoo is decorative as tattoos are, whereas in the video game, its his designation, like a real bar code and not like some dumb tribal band tattoo everyone and their mothers get. Those are source changes for the bad. :csad:

If Wiki is correct, the premise of the movie sounds extremely generic, typical "main character gets double crossed and has to survive" crap that we've seen a hundred times. They could have gone the original route and actually wrote him a mission.

be wary in trusting stuff like that on Wiki

True, but the premise was provided by 20th Century Fox, and we all know how well they deal with video game and comic book properties :csad: so I'd say that IS the official premise.

47 is a genetically engineered and enhanced clone. He was still trained though. The backstory provided by the official game websites show that the clones went through training with weapons to hone their skills and that 47 was the top of his class. Plus, in the first game you wake up in a training level which is later revealed to be in the basement of the asylum that Dr. Ort-Meyer runs in Romania. And if you don't kill Dr. Ort-Meyer at the end of the game, you wake up in the cell you originally woke up in.

So until his "escape" in the first game, 47's life consisted solely of endless weapons training and obstacle courses

Do you have the script?

And I'm not bashing Olyphant or anything, but another odd choice who I think would of made a good Hitman is Peter Sarsgaard.

Saarsgard looks more like a pretty boy than Olyphant does, and I'm getting used to Olyphant. He has a cold look to him.

I know… it's a Fox movie.
When I started working on this, the studio asked me to make it so that it would get a PG-13 rating. I told them I didn't want to make another Resident Evil or Silent Hill. To make it fit the game, there'd have to be more violence. After a lot of discussion I got through with my stance. I wanted to do my own movie and not someone else's.

Um yeah...the director sounds awesome.

teh dude is smiling in the camera.

Olyphant is not smiling in the trailer..........but he still looks like he is happy :o

ooops wrong thread...

I'm sorry the trailer was ****ing cheesy and lame.

He was still trained though.

Of course he was. What I am saying is that it sounds like the movie version is just some random guy that chose to become a hitman. Much less dynamic than the source material.

Well, they might show some of it either in flashbacks, or perhaps during the opening credits.

I'd like the latter- during the credits show the origins of 47 (cloning, his training, his "staged escape")

wasnt there a scene in the teaser where we see the young hitman with the tattoo on hes head?

Hitman teaser poster:

Unlike a lot of Hollywood productions, HITMAN is blasting through the process -- it started shooting in March and will hit (ahem) theaters in October. Is it the efficiency of the mostly-European filmmakers, or are they just in a hurry to have a smooth-skulled Timothy Olyphant shoot you in the brain?

Either way, the videogame adaptation will provide some action in the month known mostly for horror, and a new French poster has hit online over at Twitch. Not quite as elegant as the teaser trailer, but it's an effective design that cleverly incorporates the barcode branded on the back of our titular assassin's noggin.

The movie revolves around a hired killer known only as Agent 47, slaying his way through Europe hunted by Interpol and the Russian military, while discovering bits about his own mysterious past.

Strange, it's showing up for me. Anyway, it's clever, but I don't really like it.

That teaser poster reminds me of the GTA logos... I don't like...

I personally am really looking forward to Hitman, I've heard so many complaints which really do not bother me to think this film will suck...

Statham could never play 47, even if he wasn't in the Transporters or Crank. He definitly has the look, but he'd have so much trouble with the dialogue, his english accent is too thick, they'd have to dub his voice... It's too bad Bateson didn't get the role, 47 was based on Bateson from the second game onwards, 47 is what he is bcos of Bateson, but yes he is getting old, I'm sure this isn't the first time an actor was perfect but too old for a role...

Olyphant doesn't look cold enough: This coming from about 50 seconds of footage from a 1.5 - 2 hour film, I'm glad he doesn't look too cold or bad ass or whatever, it works in a videogame (I have played all of them by the way) but in a film, if this assassin always looks so menacing & cold, thats gonna attract unwanted attention, great assassin's can blend with a crowd, its bad enough that he's bald (shaved in this case), mostly wears a black suit with a red tie & has a barcode on the back of his head...

Some complaints I've heard are just so funny, the best one from another forum being "Glocks!! when did Hitman use silent glocks!! this film's gonna suck!!" & it turned out they were talking about the logo for the film, now anyone can tell that those are just graphics for the logo, jeeze!!...

One of the best things about the teaser is when he comes through the entrance of the bathroom, it just looks like he's gonna shoot them, but watching it in 480p, you can see that he's holding a syringe in his mouth... Now that's great!! Link to the HD trailers here http://www.filmick.co.uk/2007/06/direct-download-links-for-hd-versions.html

I read a very in depth summary of the script, which spoiled alot for me, but has restored if not raised my faith in this film, I won't spoil it for you guys, but this film isn't set from the beginning of Hitman's mytho & is a totally new story incorporating different elements & missions from all the games, which was a good move, as I believe games to films can be very hard to do, seeing as most games are 10+ hours & squeezing that into 2 hours & keeping everyone happy is just not possible... you can complain saying Silent Hill was great, but that was a mixture of 2 - 3 games & not just 1...

From what I've read it definitly will not be a popcorn flick, there's alot of violence, not just killing & shooting, but also scenes of torture & rape, so I don't see this being your average action movie. This film is being made for the fans as well as people that will b unfamiliar with the hitman world, it's not being made for fanboys which I'm glad about! The story is very well done, definitly suits the character of 47... The love interest thing is interesting, she's similair to Mei-Ling/Lei-Ling from the mission lee-hong assassination in the Codename:47 & Contracts games, but instead of 47 having her with him for a little while, he drags her along, & NO it's not because he's falling for her!! *sigh* alot of people have made terrible assumptions about it but I kno they will definitly enjoy that storyline...

The ending was one of the best things, it was just a great way of summing up who & what 47 is, & the fact that the director is going to make the ending more darker has shocked me as I thought the ending was dark enough already... None of the flashbacks of his "engineering" were in the script, the director is adding them to make 47 much more mysterious, I don't think that his whole origin will be explained as thats not what the story is about but little tidbits of his origin will definitly work, I'm sure this is being done so that if they make a sequel, more will be uncovered about his past which will keep his character fresh in a sense even though he's not changing...

All in all I can't wait for this film, I am worried about what Olyphant will sound like as 47, I'm hoping he doesn't put too much emotion into his voice & also that he doesn't put no emotion in his voice like Neo in Reloaded/Revolutions, 47 is human after all, he does have feelings, but he can supress them no matter what, but until October comes I'll be wondering what updates will hit the official website!..

the background of the poster should be black. i dont know why it is white.

That's neat. Didn't notice that before. Definitely a nice little touch.

Also the poster, cool idea...it just doesn't look good. IMO looks fan made.

to give it an antiseptic feeling???

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't white a common background for the game title screens and packaging...not to mention some of the official wallpapers and such??
