Justice League The Home Release Thread - Hopes & possible fears

WB doesn't give a **** about what the fans want man.

True but they do care about money.

So they know an extended cut will have people buying instead of just releasing the TC that made no money.

Anyways, those extra 15 minutes will be just 5 minutes of scenes spread out throughout the movie while the other 10 minutes will be more ending credits of the people that worked on the extended cut. Lol imagine that!!! That WB chairman is not that evil. Or is he??

If there are 15 minutes of scenes, methinks it will be largely Aquaman and Cyborg stuff. They'll want to do everything they can to psyche people up for AQUAMAN.

True ^ They'll be even more incentivized to just let JL die and move on- Not even bothering with alternate cuts/editions

I think losing 200 million bucks is more than an enough incentive to not bother.

OR more than enough incentive to try to squeeze some every last penny they can out of the home video release to possibly break even on this thing.

It seems like they might break even when everything's accounted for like merch/dvd etc. but if the next team up is like this/BvS/SS

Nothing they can do will get this movie to make anywhere near 200 mill on homevid, but hey if they wanna lose some more money they should get snyder to assemble and release his own cut.

The best thing the Snyder cut fans can do is similar to what was done with Superman II and just keep the awareness out there. If they happen to get their hands in snippets of Snyder footage then make fan edits too. But trying to protest us just stupid and the fact only thirteen people even showed up made it even more embarrassing.

That Forbes report indicated a 750 million break even point, with ancillaries factored in. So, way off break even if that’s the case.

Eh, that wasn't a protest though, it was literally a small gathering of people that took a picture, so that's a harmless gesture imo. But, yes, the fact remains that that's not going to help get a Snyder cut. The only way a Snyder cut is happening is if Snyder enforces his DGA rights and puts one together with his footage and does so out of his own pocket because Warner Bros is not spending a dime more on this movie.

But I think IF SNYDER WANTS TO without extra cost to the studio then thats free money for them to milk the movie for all its worth just like Watchmen.

...somebody gotta start a petition to get this guy to help fund the vision...
Vero CEO Ayman Hariri. He loves Snyder and DC. I bet he would put up/advance the capital to finish the VFX for Snyders cut. He could offset it by pre-selling the disk/digital release.

For the sake of art and consistency and being a nice guy...

Help us Ayman Hariri...you're our only hope...:yay:

Justice League is set to be released here in Blu-Ray/DVD format on March 21st.

As someone who enjoyed the theatrical cut i am curious to see what is included in this rumored extended cut.
Just curious, was Watchmen a high seller on home video? I'm assuming it must have been with all the re-releases they did with it.

Watchmen sold about 3,7 million copies and made over 100 million dollars in the U.S. alone according to this site.

February? that's around the corner. Curious. I figured it would be around Easter, hmm...

might as well have an extended cut, but if not, no biggie.

Is that accurate? That's a pretty good haul.

Yeah it did well on home video but it still flopped overall because it did so badly in theaters (massive opening at the time followed by a shocking sub 2x multiplier leading to an overall 180 million ww take for a movie that cost 130).

Watchmen is a movie that is getting more and more popular as time goes by. It did extremely well in home media. Nolan said the right thing..the movie was ahead of its time.

Watchmen is always a fun and also odd film for me to watch.

Speaking of, just picked up the Ultimate Cut of Watchmen a few weeks ago. Granted, I don't have a 4K TV or player...yet, but I plan to and always wanted to see the definitive version of Watchmen. Granted, I love the Director's Cut of Watchmen as is, but to learn there was even more content got me intrigued...and along with Wonder Woman, will soon push me towards making that jump to 4K.

That’s not what he said though, is it?

He said (according to Snyder. There’s nothing on record from Nolan) that Snyder made Watchmen too early, and that it should have been made later into the superhero movie cycle as it’s a deconstruction.

That’s not saying it’s a movie ‘ahead of its time’ which implies a level of praise that isn’t really there in Nolan’s words.

Ehh seems like a distinction without a difference to me. The movie was made too early, it came ahead of its time, for pop culture. Hence it being more embraced as time passes on.

Its weird how you felt the need to point out Snyder said it, as if he would publicly lie about something like this, when they are close professional friends.

Anyway...

I personally prefer the director' cut, but the extra sequences in the Ultimate Cut is sure very well made and interesting.

Honestly I think how Watchmen is seen now is how Superman v. Batman: Dawn of Justice: Ultimate Cut will be seen later down the road.

The fire rises. People involved with the production are coming out of the woodwork saying the cut exists.

Come on, WB! JUST RELEASE IT! What do they POSSIBLY have to lose at this point?

I think it's a matter of them not wanting to admit that they messed up along with possibly not wanting to spend any more money than they already have to in finalizing Snyder's cut, especially when the theatrical release didn't make nearly the profit that they wanted.

I get that, but I definitely think something's up though. Multiple sources have said that the special effects teams have been working on the CGI for the movie even after the theatrical release. One of those sources being that special effects artist who leaked the deleted scenes a while ago. Why would they do that if they're not planning on some sort of alternate cut of the film? Maybe the studio was planning this from the start in order to get us to double dip on the home video release.
