Now it makes even less sense! :cmad:
:oldrazz:

Haha well they could use the excuse that he was a child when he drowned and only found Alice as an adult :oldrazz:

Infact I remember someone did an animated thing maybe using Flash on youtube where it showed Jason surviving the drowning and ageing into the adult Jason of Part 2. If you can find it check it out it was only on for a couple of mins from what I remember.

ISOYG 2 really didn't sound appealing. Some series don't need sequels. Now if it was a man as the protagonist in the series. Honestly, that might be interesting and something to work with,.

Suspension of disbelief for sure but we never actually saw Jason die on screen so for me it was never really all that far fetched.

So Death Wish?

I love all of the Death Wish sequels, the first is a classic but the sequels are just pure 80's baddassery.

I think it's vital to the concept that ISOYG remain a female fronted revenge story, a twisted tale of girl power. As I mentioned before, I see this almost as a female version of The Crow (not that The Crow always has to be a male). However, like The Crow, this franchise seems to think that it has to be virtually the same film every time. It doesn't.

Having a bit of a Hammer marathon this month. They sure don't make them like that any more...

Hatchet III

It was a good sequel. Better than II at any rate. All practical effects, some of them over-the-top gory and cheesy but still very entertaining.

And there's always room for a fourth although indicators are there won't be with the original crew if that happens.

Huge Hammer nut. What's your list? I usually bum out on a Sat or Sun and do a marathon of Frankenstein or Dracula.

I bought an region free Blu Ray player just so I can get the Hammer Blu Rays. It looks like TCM is putting Hammer movies on Sat mornings this month.

I'll also work in my other favorites...

The Mummy... Still the best mummy movie.
Twins of Evil
The Devil Rides Out
Curse of the Werewolf
Hands of the Ripper

I have to find a way to get my hands on their version of Phantom of the Opera. Its never on TV and I don't think they have plays for it on BluRay.

I would take a second look if I were you I saw some pretty bad CGI blood here and there, but I do agree it was a much better sequel than 2.

There was no cgi blood. It was all practical effects except for digitally removing wires or camera flubs.

Series creator Adam Green prides the Hatchet films on their "no CGI rule". All make-up effects are done the "old school" way with prosthetics, make-up, latex, and silicone in order to give the films their throw back feeling and tone. CGI and digital enhancement is only used for such things as wire removal or fixing any camera issues that occurred while filming, but never to create the films' outrageous special effects. Hatchet 3 was no exception to this rule and Green continually challenged the make-up effects crew by writing crazy death scenes and sequences that most any other modern production would have brought in computer generated visual effects teams to accomplish.

Did the Platinum Dunes tackling Halloween rumours have any truth to them? I'm desperate for a reboot of Halloween after those god awful Rob Zombie films.

I watched the film and saw cgi blood in a scene, I see this reviewer from GoryLittlePieces.com seems to have agreed with me

After watching Hatchet III, I was satisfied. In this kind of film you know what you’re getting into before you even start. Your going to get brutal violence, tons of gore, some t&a, and a bit of comedy thrown in. This one however, I felt focused more on the comedy aspect and less on the Violence and T&A. Actually there is not a single boob shown in the film. The viewer does get the pleasure of seeing the absolutely gorgeous Danielle Harris get hosed down from the side. On a side not, She get prettier with age. As far as gore, there is a lot but for some reason it seemed tame compared to the first two films. Also a solid amount of practical effects were used, unfortunately some poor CGI effects are apparent. Even with these things, the movie is still very enjoyable.

Shortly after Zombie's H2 there were several sites reporting that Patrick Lussier was directing the third, titled 'Halloween 3D'.

"They killed the Giggler..."
The Giggler's death is one of my favorites of the series, I love that right before Kersey blows him away with the elephant round, he gets an ice cream.

Personally, I have about as much interest in seeing the first kill of Michael Myers again as I do the first adventure of Batman again...which is to say, ZERO interest. My mind is capable of understanding much more than just an origin story and sequel over and over and over and over and over again.

I would give lots and lots of money and well, pretty much everything I own to see John Carpenter do one last Halloween movie.

As much as all of us hardcore Halloween fans would love to have Carpenter back the man just doesn't have his heart in that franchise any more, I'd prefer someone with a passion for it rather than Carpenter with a have hearted take.

The simple fact is Carpenter is a legend, one of my favorite directors of all time but after watching The Ward you can see the man just isn't the same director anymore.

The last JC film I saw was Vampires, so I'm not too sure what his recent movies have been like.

My post was based on a more selfish fanboy level. Like one last hurrah for him or something, but only if he had the right story etc.

The word at IMDB is he's writing the third reboot movie. Of course take that with a grain of salt to be factual. Especially with him credited for characters only at this stage and a release date of 2018, 5 years from now.

Sadly he hasn't directed anything since The Ward 3 years ago and prior to that it was Ghosts of Mars 9 years prior to that, excepting the Masters of Horror television episodes.

I don't think you do the origin again you just do a stand alone Halloween move that maybe sets up a sequel.

Has everyone seen the amateur film Halloween Resurgence? If not and your a fan of the original series you'll love it, it's fantastic.

I just finished watching the remake of The Thing (2011) for the first time. I've been putting it off for almost two years, because Carpenter's The Thing is one of my favorite movies of all-time, no question.

However, you know what? This remake wasn't so bad, man. Mary Elizabeth Winstead really held her own. After assuming that this would be all boobs and blood and no substance (it is the 2000's after all), I'm pleasantly surprised that she mostly wore a turtleneck the whole time, she had virtually no make-up on, and the movie was basically just "selling" her cute face and not sex in general. There's nothing "hot" or "teen" going on here. She's just a cute, cute girl. Not once was my intelligence insulted.

And I'm impressed by that. Her character could've easily been written for a man without many script changes (literally one or two tweaks of dialogue), and she was very believable as a scientist. Dare I say it, she kind of channeled Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling for me.

Although the CGI was a bit disappointing and didn't have that charm of the original's effects, I found myself embracing the fact that this is the new norm for any movie... and I found myself accepting this movie.

I can't believe I'm typing this, but I'm happily putting this film on the shelf next to the original. I gladly welcome it with open arms, and I think in 10 years' time it might find an appreciation with a new audience.

Probably one of the better remakes I've ever seen (although it is a prequel). :word:

Well in the remake/reboot/requel which I love, it's clear he survived, you just have to assume he washed up on shore later or something but he's clearly there when Mrs Voorhees us decapitated.

In the original series, it's never really explained outside of Paul's old folks tale at the Camp fire where Jason is mentioned as a legend and Ginny saying at the bar what if he did survive etc. The explanation is pretty much what happened in the reboot but instead if Jason drowning in 1980 like the reboot in the original series he drowned in 1957 and supposedly survived in the woods fir all those years until seeing his Mother beheaded in 1980. Why Jason's body had never been recovered from the lake or why Jason never returned to the Camp is anybody's guess. It's kind of half assed but I guess we don't mind ha ha.

what if Jason wasn't an only child? Pamela Voorhees was near madness when her severely disfigured son drowned. maybe mad enough to neglect the leftover child. could be that the kid drowned in the lake had a bigger meaner twin.
