The Horror Thread - Part 6

It's got a slow pace so I can see why it's not for everyone. I loved it though, it's got eerie dread throughout the movie and it pretty much feels like The Crucible but with a horror slant.

Some official news on Jeepers Creepers 3

Official poster/sales art.

Wait so it's real this time? I've been hearing rumors for a 3rd one since 2009

Really hope JC3 finally gets made. Been wanting this for a long time now. Just hope if it does get made they don't screw it up.

Has anyone watched The Boy yet? Could anyone tell me what they thought, it caught my interest a while back but not sure if it is worth a watch or not.

It's worth watching if you want a good laugh. Seriously, the ending is straight up comical I actually kinda enjoy it on that level. RiffTrax is going to have a goldmine with this.

Yeah, same. The sequel was an easy route, so hopefully the third film will reveal some things that'll world-build/character-build on Jeepers. What is he? Who is he? Why is he? Those are questions that need to be layered, if not straight up answered. I think it'd be tired if they just had him eat more people and that's it.

The Entity (1982)
Director: Sidney J. Furie
Starring: Barbara Hershey, Ron Silver

If you haven't seen this, do yourself a huge favor and see it on Blu-Ray. It's one of the greatest horror/supernatural films of all-time! 10/10 I rank it higher than The Exorcist or Poltergeist.

The Entity is a weird movie.

It has been a while since I've seen it but I remember it being about some Ghost rapist that attacked a woman.

The Entity is an interesting and worthwhile flick, but it has nothing on The Exorcist.

What is freaky about The Entity is that it's based on a true story.

They should call those stories that are claimed to be true. Whether they are or not, there's rarely any solid proof.

Watching Hellraiser: Hellworld and it's not THAT bad. My expectations were extremely low, but it's really not terrible at all.

Plus Henry Cavill stars in it.

I'm a sucker for DTV horror sequels like this. I wish there were more. I feel like there should be way more than 9 Hellraiser films.

While I do want them to expand on who/what the Creeper is, I think they should also play it smart & leave a certain air of mystery. Basically, answer some questions & leave other things in the air.

Helps with the fear factor, imo.

I just rewatched Phantasm (1979) after 10+ year's and imo its a very underrated film and yes it isn't a masterpiece such has Halloween or the texas chainsaw massacre, but it should get more credit.

Phantasm is getting a 4K release via JJ Abrams later this year, plus Phantasm Ravager is supposed to be out either this or next year. I'm excited to see it, and of course see Angus Scrimm's final performance as the Tall Man.

I watched Knock Knock last night if it could even be considered a horror but it was ****ing terrible. Without doubt the worst film I've probably ever watched, I have no idea why people keep giving Eli Roth money to make movies. Keanu Reeves who is an average actor at best anyway was dreadful, his acting whether scared or not was the same. I'd give it a 2/10 at most.

Roth's audience is probably mostly high schoolers. His movies, and Rob Zombie's, were popular with us when we were in high school.

Gonna check out this new horror on Netflix called Hush. Getting some good buzz from horror fans about it.

The Invitation, not strictly horror, was ****ing amazing. The Purge meets "Helter Skelter", with taught drama ramping up to the climax, disguised nicely as a 'indie mumblecore'.

The Girl in the Photographs
Hush
The Invitation
Circle

Check these films out, people! Photographs and Invitation are slow burns but they cast such a strange cloud of dread and anticipation, I loved them. Hush is from dude who did Oculus and he's doing the reboot for I Know What You Did Last Summer, so I'm quite excited for that. Circle is a lot better than I anticipated, delving into a lot of social commentary with a sci-fi twist.

Man that scene in the original where they first see JC dumping the body and then are in a car chase with him was so terrifying as a teen, I had already seen plenty of horror films at that time and it stills stands out as one of the more scariest moments.

Nice I just mentioned Hush above, might try to watch this weekend.
