I watched cannibal western movie Bone Tomahawk.

Even though it was a cannibal movie I wasn't expecting it to be that gory. There is some horrible mutilation stuff that was awful to watch and comes out of nowhere.

This film makes The Hills Have Eyes look like a kids Disney movie

Sad news R.I.P Gunnar

Whilst I'm not a fan of the original TCM, I do appreciate its legacy and Gunnar was a huge part of that. Always seemed a great guy in interviews abs such aswell.

Well I think I will be watching TCM now tonight for Gunnar

In the middle of watching a kinda-sorta documentary about Horror called Fear Itself (2015) that the BBC did.

The entire thing is made up of clips from Horror movies, while a voice-over narration talks about fear and how Horror movies create fear in people etc etc etc. The narration is kind of stream of consciousness...not really telling a story, but exploring a theme for awhile and the moving to another theme...and the clips all go along with what the narration is saying.

It's an interesting "documentary" and I saw clips of some films I hadn't heard of before...but it's not really something that will educate you on Horror history. It's more using clips to examine the subjects the narrator is talking about.

Unfortunately horror movies don't really scare me anymore. Don't get me wrong, I will jump from a jump scare, but there's no real fear. The only recent movie that I can think of that actually disturbed me, was the Babadook. But that was more about isolation.

A good horror flick is a fun ride though. But sometimes I do miss being a kid and being genuinely terrified.

I agree, its kinda impossible for me to get scared by a movie anymore even if I like it but good atmosphere, tension and suspense can compensate that.

Hellraiser still scares the **** out of me.

Movies haven't really scared me for decades (most moved from scaring to disgusting in my opinion)....but I continue to watch horror movies (mostly old ones) because of the nostalgia value in them.

Oh definitely. What I like about horror movies is that they kind of take me out of reality. My favorite horror movies are ones that start off in a completely mundane fashion, and then slowly get crazy.

Watching TCM as we speak right now in honor of Gunnar.

Andrew Bryniarski who played Leatherface in the Platinum Dunes remake is mocking Gunnar Hansen. Bryniarski's fans are joining in in the comments.

Most of his facebook consists of Obama Birther Conspiracy crap, so that's about all you need to know about this idiot.

Savini had a big rant on FB as well yesterday. But then deleted it. Lots of people got on him about it. From people I know that have met him at conventions and what Ive heard in general is that Savini is a bit of a prick. Kind of stuck up, holier than thou type.

I've read a few stories about Savini acting like an stuck up prick at conventions, so it doesn't really surprise me.

Wow, Byrniarski needs a life. Guess being like the 5th Leatherface and the son in Batman Returns really up your ego or something.

What was his rant about?

Here, I found what he originally posted before deleting it

Savini's lead-in to his comments was probably un-needed but it reminds me of what Mich Jagger or someone once said in a documentary about rock n roll.

They were talking about how irrationally or not it kind of irked them to see crowds of people crying over the deaths of figures like Janis Joplin, Hendrix and Morrison. What they summed it up as was "They're your f***ing legends but they were my f***ing friends."

That said though, beyond just the fact that Hansen will always be remembered for his role in the film part of the reason so many horror fans are expressing their sadness at his passing is specifically because he was so generous with his time at conventions and screenings. Many people actually did have the chance to have conversations with him beyond a photo-op because he took the time to do so.

It seems you're right that Savini was basically doing the he was my friend thing but actors playing parts in movies or tv they become something more. They can mean something to everyone, a person may have had a struggle in their life and a certain film with a certain actor could be what gets them through it. Regardless of whether or not we knew the man personally we have a right to grieve someone who has brought us something.

What more did Andrew say? While i might get what Savini was trying to say, i still don't see much context in this comment besides being a prick.

After seeing him at Spooky Empire a couple weeks back, I can confirm this is true. He was also placed at the total opposite corner of the room from George Romero; I'm pretty sure they had a falling out at some point. Also in years past, he has told a coworker that she is not pretty enough to be a make up artist in the film industry.

Other people that were there that were cool to meet were Tony Todd, Bill Mosely, Barry Bostwick, and Neve Campbell, who's as gorgeous as ever. I honestly think she looks better in person than on film.

Watched Bone Tomahawk today. Pretty gruesome stuff.
