The Horror Thread - Part 6

I think it'd almost be easier to just create a new horror icon. and let Freddy stay dead. no character actor names really jump out to me. Englund was relatively unknown when he got the role.

Trust me, trying to create a new stand out icon is just as hard a task. But keeping in line with a relatively unknown actor would be the smart route to go.

We already tried a character actor & it turned out as horrible as could be. I'd rather we get someone hungry & that isn't established, like Englund was when he got the role.

Doesn't make sense to retire the character, just get some people together who actually want to make a good movie & not just cash in.

I had a double feature of Krampus and A Christmas Horror Story. I feel like I should've watched ACHS before Krampus, as I still enjoyed the movie, but so close to the definitive Krampus film, the Krampus of ACHS was far less impressive.

i mentioned that because Englund described himself as a character actor; prior to getting the Freddy role.

as a rule, i generally watch the higher budgeted movie; last. i thought that the CHS Krampus was a little more hands-on than the 'Krampus' Krampus; who mostly used surrogates.

Sorry, I didn't mean there's anything wrong with getting a character actor. I just think that it should be someone unknown like Englund.

Will also need writers and a director on board who actually focus on making this Freddy stand out on his own. One of the things I despised most about Haley's version is that tptb were going on and on about how he'd be "more serious" and less comedic...and then they give him a bunch of Englund's lines from the more campy installments.

Has anyone seen 31 from rob zombie yet and if so did you guys enjoy it or was it another goofy movie like lords of salem

It's not as bad as Lords of Salem, but it's still pretty bad. The best part about that movie is Richard Brake who's only in it for a short time.

I watching the autopsy of Jane doe from the director of troll hunter. Late contender for one of the best horror films of the year.

I really liked it.
a father and son coroner/mortician duo perform an autopsy on a body they discover is a 17th century witch who isn't really dead.

Sounds good

Cult of Chucky Trailer

Doesn't show anything from the new movie its just clips from the past Chucky fans because they don't start filming till next week but the Symponis sounds interesting. I really liked Curse of Chucky so I will keep an eye on it when it comes out. Here the Plot

Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

It has its own thread now. Not sure if it needs it but whatever. :oldrazz:

I don't know why they keep making s*** that died a long time ago.

Yet it still has a strong fanbase. Plus Curse Of Chucky received positive to mixed reviews, so.

I LOVED this movie...HOWEVER

I kind of wanted a more cliche ending...which I'm aware sounds stupid (especially coming from me, who cant stand Hollywood type Horror films). But the fact that the witch is now a corpse again and being shipped off to another morgue to repeat the process kind of irks me. I kind of wanted her to get up off of that slab and walk off or something.

It's like Michael Myers, Freddy, and Jason. Huge fanbase that keep wanting more.

Unlike the aforementioned three, Chucky has had at least one good movie in the last ten years.

There is always stories to tell that were never told. Freddy could have a whole prequel movie about being the slasher. We could get a Jason prequel movie with his father and mother and what that was like. Michael Myers is the only one that you just need a whole different story, we don't need reboot after reboot just make a typical slasher movie with the shape. **** what if they made a Halloween movie and the whole time you thought Michael Myers but really it was a copy cat maybe Paul Rudd's character or Josh Hartnett's character. Lots of stories they could do instead of rebooting the original property over and over again.

Friday the 13th Part 5 did a copycat storyline, and it wasn't very popular. The person who was the copycat turning out to be a nobody didn't help, but mostly fans didn't warm to it because it wasn't Jason.

i forgot how bad that was. It could work for Michael Myers tho. It wasn't until resurrection that we found out he was more than just a man with the cult stuff. Ditch the cult aspect and make it just a man who snapped and went crazy and on a killing spree.

Speaking of older franchises...I used to watch a competition reality show on SyFy where make-up/creature effects people would compete for a grand prize of money and pretty much nothing else. I think it would be cool if the network would arrange for a new sequel to some old Horror franchise, and then the winner got to be a part of the team doing gore and creature effects. It seems like that is a natural result of winning a creature effects competition show. These old franchises still have value, but I'm not sure that the value is in a theatrically release film.
