I'm surprised he didn't throw in Maximum Overdrive since he directed it himself. :woot: That is a movie I really enjoy despite being fairly bad.
As I recall he even said it was a piece of **** mostly because he was coked out of his mind during the filming of it.

Maniac (2013) is on iTunes! Thanks for the heads up, I'll be watching it tonight.

Does no one else like the first Wrong Turn movie? I thought that was pretty creepy

Maniac is on VOD.

Begging for you guys to watch it. Its so friggin good.

Yup... I'm in NJ so I got to see it at the NYC IFC center. It was pretty cool to see in a 60 seat theater because that over the top gore was right in your face. I'm not sure how many of those are around but the remake is on On Demand and ITunes.

I've been up and down the boards pimping this flick for the sole reason that this is the kind of horror that needs to make money. Not the mindless PG-13 crap that backs into money like WWZ.

Caught this at the IFC Theater on Saturday. Elijah Wood introduced the film. My friend claims the original as one of his all time favorite films, and he even said this might have topped that. For me, it trampled the original. A great moment there.

Also, met some cool people on line beforehand to BS with. Unfortunately I didn't get a poster, they only had 25 and waiting near 2 hours on the front of the line doesn't get you anything by back pain.

People, watch this movie. You won't be disappointed.

I thought it was very contrived , but some of the ways the victims tried to outsmart the killers were interesting. I never bothered with the sequels though. I wouldn't place the film on the top of my horror lists , but would say it's worth a rental for horror buffs.

I was a fan of Maximum Overdrive when I was younger. I don't care how bad it was. Also kind of funny to mention the Green Goblin truck , Pat Hingle prior to playing Commissioner Gorden in Batman (1989), and the actress who voices Lisa Simpson.

Maybe not directly horror but some definite horror vibes, you guys should definitely seek out Hannibal, which just finished its first season and is returning for a 2nd next year.

When the show was first announced I was completely put off by the whole concept. After Hannibal and Hannibal rising it just seemed like more Hannibal would just further detooth the character and the premise just sounded like a network TV cash in on Dexter or something.

I was so wrong. This show is so well put together. The cast is great. While he may never be as recognized for the role as Hopkins, I can say I think Mikkelson is the best actor to play Hannibal Lecter. While Hopkins did great work making his mark in about 12 minutes in Silence of the Lambs, Mikkelson has been fantastic as a more subtle, slow burn season length Hannibal. The rest of the cast is similarly good.

The production values are fantastic. The show is more cinematic both and camera work and just overall design than any network show I've ever seen and even gives most cable shows a run for there money.

Not that I'm complaining at all but I've been pretty well shocked by the level and quality of gore and presentation of violence the show has managed to pull of with network TV rating constraints and its budget.

Again I highly reccommend it.

Because, you know, This happens:

I liked French horror movie Livid. That movie had atmosphere, was creepy and a really odd ending.

What in the hell is that?

The type of stuff that goes on in Will Graham's head on the show. He has nightmarish/dream-like visions of the events surrounding the cases he investigates....such as deer man there.

I thought it was Pan, at first, but, Bryan Fuller identified it as the Wendigo, which fits perfectly.

Ahh...

As long as they can capture the edginess and mystique of the original.

I think whatever they do with this concept, it'll have the potential to be quite good. Fingers crossed.

I don't think they need to remake Jacobs Ladder. They could just continue the theme and similar plot with a different characters.

My concern is the fact the ending was a revelation. I don't know how they can just remake it with people knowing the facts all along. Unless they just think that most people won't know anyway, or just change things up. But I don't know what the purpose would be.

Hopefully I'll be pleased. I really want it to be great.

I think they will change that part up. Which will create an issue.

It's like the Silent Hill games. We have a revelation in SH2 that the guy who's been relentlessly searching for his wife in the town, in fact killed her hours prior to his arrival, then repressed the memory.

Later games have attempted to do the same thing, but it's always predictable in a sense. We know there will be a revelation twist, but we just don't know what it is.

However with JL, we know what the revelation is - He's dying and everything was a drug induced supernatural finish.

They can't change that. But they can change how we get there.

I just finished the new Maniac, I think my initial reaction is it's about the same as the original (which I liked).

There's no like, weird child rapers or anything in it? I can handle gore and most stuff, but that.... no thanks.
