The Hulks Leaping/Jumping

well, as long as Hulk doesn't need to take the elevator to get down from a building, I'm happy:

Man-in-Elevator: "Nice Hulk outfit!"

Hulk: "Thanks......I sewed pants myself!"

-----Awkward Silence------

Man-in-Elevator: "Looks kind of uncomfortable."

Hulk: "Yah.....pants are a little tight.....and they get itchy around the
crotch area..."

-----More Awkard Silence------

Man-in-Elevator: "Say, couldn't you have just jumped off the building? Why'd you have
to take the elevator down?"

Hulk: "Hulk felt all macho jumping to top of building. But Hulk looked over
the edge and realized Hulk afraid of heights."

Man-in-Elevator: "O'rlly! That sucks! Y'know, aside from referring to yourself in the 3rd
person, you have surprisingly good grammar."

Hulk: "Thanks! Hulk has been studying Rosetta Stone."

--------Even More Awkward Silence--------

Man-in-Elevator: "Say, I think my dog really likes you. In fact, he wants what's inside
of you. He wants that. He needs that."

Hulk: "Well, tell your dog to......TAKE IT! TAKE IT ALL!!!"

He went from Brazil to Guatemala, I cannot stress this enough, he didn't just WALK THERE.

I have a question (since i haven´t seen the movie yet:cmad:)... how long did it take for him to get from brasil to guatemala?

because, you know here in latin america we do have roads, cars and bus service too

well, in the movie:

[BLACKOUT]When Banner wakes up, he is already in the jungles of Guatemala. He doesn't know where he is, and as he approaches the road, he asks a driver who tells him he is in Guatemala. So, I think it's safe to say that Banner didn't get to Guatemala while in human form.[/BLACKOUT]

OHhhh... that explains it... I really need to see this movie and yeah I think its safe to say he jumped there... knowing that, I don´t know how this thread is still open

Somebody said that Hulk's claim to fame is his magnificent leaps (The most impressive being leaping between planets or in the comics, he leaps into outer space) but the director assumes that we know this so he cut that scene out, no doubt it will be in the DVD though. Anyways, there is no reason for him to leap much in the movie as he just overpowered everybody. Leaping is just a mode of transportation for Hulk anyways.

Plus it is hardly necessary to have him leaping miles away in a chase scene in every Hulk movie.

Exactly!

I guess the dozens and dozens of Hulk issues that don't actually show him leaping miles in a single bound are all crappy issues and the only good issues are the ones that show him jumping. :whatever:

I don't recall him leaping into outer space, I remember Cosmic Spidey punching gray Hulk (Mr. Fixit soon to be) into space...then he kinda just remained in orbit until Spidey got him down...

1) It is probably safe to say that it took more than just 1 freakin jump for the Hulk to get to Guatemala from Brazil. So that isn't an issue, he got there in one night we don't know if it took 10 mins or an 1 hour or more. HE GOT THERE!

2) I have to slap myself *slaps*. The Hulk not Jumping his farthest, shows the Hulk's intellect...and are ignorance... which we keep on underestimating (even some us fans) [I'll Explain]. Like Kermit referenced earlier HE doesn't want to jump his highest and farthest and unintentionally squash someone or their home. Look where he is for most of the movie. He is in highly populated cities, campuses, rural areas, not in the open desert and canyons. Maybe LL and Norton assumed that people (especially us fans) would pick up on this and instead of debating who can jump further 03 or 08 realize that he really didn't have the room or space to do so.

Because then we would have said, "Oh it is so convenient that there are no people or building structures around where he lands."

In 03 he had the space to flex his chops. This thread would have been better for a debate had it been called Who can RUN Faster?
Sorry to whomever created.

I am conflicted though the only only scene that I find questionable in who can jump higher is the scene in 08 where he jumps up after Abom and barely grabs his leg. His main concern was protecting Betty he would have done all in his power to stop Abom before he got that close to her so he should've been able to further so he would have tackled Abom in mid air.

*just cause we didn't see it, doesn't mean it can't happen or isn't possible. "Christian Bale's bat suit could fly in Begins, Keaton's in the 89 Batman movie can't because we do not see it. Therefor he can't sore in the sky....[enter] Batman Returns!!!!!! Wait for the sequel*

I know I read in the comics that the max leap the Hulk can take is one mile. I remember a scene where the Hulks leaps got bigger & bigger until he reached a mile leap & thats how it was shown in the CB.

He did i forgot what issue, maybe from one of the Tales to Astonish, but he did. He also jumped after rockets in the later issues.

It's ignorant of you to assume I'm in the group of fans that think "If the character isn't "dark" they suck!".

I don't only like dark characters. I just read up on Samson and he just didn't sound all that intriguing as a character is all.

It's ignorant of you to assume I was talking about you specifically. I was using your quote as the basis of my statement, because your not the only one who said that. But most people who say that haven't even read any comics with the character in question, so how much weight does their opinion really have in the first place, outside of their own mind? It's pretty irrelevant. It's been a trend in comics ever since The Dark Knight Returns was a hit, and it's also the reason why a character like Superman won't work as well in this day and age on the big screen, IMO of course

Anyone noticed during the campus scene when he leapt up and crushed the Hum-V? You have to admit, THAT WAS A PRETTY HIGH JUMP!!!

I feel Ang Lee nailed the Hulks leaping much better. In the CB Hulk can leap a mile when needed. I wasn't wild about the Monkey leaping in NYC.
For me it looks more like spidey leaping and swinging move at the end

How come nobody noticed how the abomination looks more like
Frisky dingo “killface” rather the abomination from the comics?
At least they should have given him some ears dammit !

He also didn't want to overshoot the jump, though. Considering he has the ability to jump a mile, it's better to undershoot the jump and still grab abomination, than to overshoot it and end up either completely destroying the helicopter or jumping a mile away.

This maybe true, I actually thought of this being a reason he undershoots the jump. BUT then again maybe he just couldn't make it.

From Brasil to Guatemala there are like 2000 miles... if HUlk can make 1 mile jumps, then that means he did more than 2000 jumps... that a lot of jumping:woot:

Gotta love the "Hulk" Hogan style elbow drop he took that cannon out with , brother!

Like everything else, Ang Lee's movie just did it better, it was stupid that they cut this out of TIH, its one of the Hulk's main abilities, its like a Superman movie were he doesnt shoot lasers from his eyes.

Like everything else?
Give it a break man, Ang Lee's franchises died as it started, it might of delved deeper into the Hulk, but it bored audiences doing so and nothing will ever be made of it again.

Not everything. The Incredible Hulk did some things that Ang Lee's Hulk did not. I actually find them complementary.

edit: So :oldrazz: to you both.

Maybe a long leap wouldn't of been as precise as the short ones.

The Hulk isn't real. They can make his long leaps as precise as they bloody well need to be.

Exactly!

I guess the dozens and dozens of Hulk issues that don't actually show him leaping miles in a single bound are all crappy issues and the only good issues are the ones that show him jumping. :whatever:

There are also dozens and dozens of Hulk issues where Hulk doesn't get into a proper superpowered fight, so I guess if they'd have excluded that... you would've been just fine with it? :whatever:

Well in TIH they seemed to keep to the laws of physics more accurately than '03, so they would've taken the accurancy of longer and shorter jumps into consideration.

Yeah. And that thunder clap was totally in keeping with the laws of physics... :o
