The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Parts 1 & 2

I'm still disappointed they dropped a certain aspect of the first book in regards to Peeta. Don't know why they wouldn't exploit it especially with this teaser now.

First film dropped so much. Still what amazes me about CF... they dropped so little, and even managed to salvage some of the dropped aspects of the first film.

Are we actually expected to follow spoiler rules on this forum for an adaptation of a widely-read book?
Yes... Why not? As we can clearly see, not everyone has read the books.

if it was the book threads, i'd say no. but since it's the movie threads and not everyone who sees the movies read books they're based on, it's good netiquette if nothing else

his leg?

i would assume a lot of that had to do with budget constraints and how expensive it would be to CGI it. At the time I don't think anyone knew it'd become the blockbuster franchise is has become, so I can see why it was omitted. I can deal with it.

I really don't think they thought it would be THIS big. I'm going with that theory hence why they left it out.

It feels like they are holding back on footage a lot longer then they did last time.

if everything is going to be as awesome as those photos from the districts and the snippet from Snow, i'm totally ok with being patient

That's understandable.

I actually thought they'd have him wear some sort of cast and clean it up with CGI to make it more obvious how fake it was. At least to make it look like something you probably wouldn't see in our world anyway.

So, it makes me disappointed how it won't be used for Peeta's brainwashing and torture. Made me feel really sorry for him.

on the bright side (well not exactly for peeta) maybe this means they will come up with even better ways to brainwash and torture peeta and johanna. it sounds morbid, but i look forward to seeing it. just because it's so integral to both characters

Agreed.
I thought it ended up making him more interesting than Katniss, especially given how helpless and useless she started to feel once things became much bigger than just the games.

I think it'll make the character more appealing too when you look at how useless he comes off in the films. I mean, they added that kill at the start of the games in the last film to help him out. :hehe:

lencho we are totally on the same page here :highfive:

Theater chains are getting the Mockingjay: Part 1 teaser under the code name Seashore, in an attempt to avoid piracy. So expect it to be on prints for Transformers 4 or probably Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

is this different from the teaser on youtube?

Honestly they have pretty much emasculated Peeta. He's a very likable guy but he's pretty much Katniss' love interest. She's the man here, she saves him from attacks in the second film, she takes the risks and decisions, and he's a liability to her who had to be constantly saved and looked after.

I doubt Peeta could be more interesting than Katniss.

Well, he comes off a little bit more smarter than her. At least when it comes to tactics. They kinda touch upon it in the films in regards to his relationship with Haymitch and how their plan was to make her the more likable one of the pair (at least to the people and sponsors watching).

Yup, Peeta is portrayed as having different skills, it's kind of subtle because it's not a convention and it's so well-executed, but basically Peeta is sharper and wittier. He says the right things, like pretending there's a baby, or the time in the first movie where he managed to align with the career pack, or the joke to Caeser about smelling good.

There's an impressive scene in the second movie when he says that Katniss and him will donate one month of their annual earnings, every year, to the families of the district 11 tributes. Haymitch goes "wow, impressive", but Peeta is then mad at Katniss a few minutes later when he finds out she didn't tell him about President Snow's visit.

Peeta's not emasculated at her. He's very effective. The idea that he's emasculated is based on the stereotype that men are defined by their physical size alone. It's hard to interpret because he's a different character than what people are used to.

He might be smarter than her that way, she's definitely more fool-hardy but she's the braver of the two, more courageous and more heroic.

It is interesting they chose to portray it this way.

I wouldn't really call her braver than him. And if this film turns out like the books, I think it'd show he would've dealt with what she goes through a bit more better if he were in her position due to his tactician-like skills.
