Damn. How short is Josh?

I was thinking about the same thing. He should wear shoes with lift in them like Prince and Tom Cruise do. Lawrence didn't do him any favors by wearing a pair of heels, either.

Tsk, everybody knows that it's not height that matters, but length. :o

The Hunger Games’ has reached a new milestone, with Fandango announcing that with nearly 2,000 showings already sold out, is now Fandango’s biggest franchise opener and non-sequel of all time.
“Hunger” has already hit the following Fandango milestones:
• 92% of daily ticket sales;
• Nearly 2,000 showtimes sold-out in advance on Fandango;
• The top ticket-seller of the year to date;
• The top-selling March release in company history;
• More mobile ticket sales than any other film this year;
• More advance tickets sold on Fandango than the first “Twilight” movie during its entire advance ticketing run.
“’The Hunger Games’ continues to amaze us with its astonishing pace,” says Fandango Executive Vice President and General Manager Rick Butler. “‘The extraordinarily strong advance ticket sales speak to the ease and convenience of Fandango, both on the Web and through our mobile apps, which guarantees fans seats for the films they want to see.”

****, I better buy my ticket tonight then.

A movie being hyped is nothing new, if people are interested they just ride the wave until something else comes along. But not seeing it on that principle is kind of silly if your just going to ignore all the good reviews from critics and maybe from people that you know. If its a good movie and you might enjoy it why not support it.

Not really, but to each his own. It could be a good film, but that doesn't mean I have to see right away, just because you are.

I will wait to see Hunger Games. Nothing about the movie has excited me enough to say it is a must see. If anything all the force fed style hype around it, is a complete turn off.

^and the overwhelming positive reviews dont make you want to see it?

about 80 reviews and at 91% on RT

Where are you being force fed hype from? I still have hardly seen much coverage or ads on tv.

kind of funny fans complain john carter had terrible marketing

but when a film has had great marketing people also complain lol

I know what you mean. Similar to Twilight, my subscription to Entertainment Weekly has been taken over by "Hunger Games mania" and it can come off as very annoying sometimes. The magazine clearly has some kind of contract with the series. They have their own special sub-site for THe Haunger Games on their website...

Heading to line up right after work. Should be around 630-7. It'll be a long wait but I'm hella excited! May the odds be ever in my favor...for a good seat.

They did the same thing for Harry Potter, and their site also has a sub-section for Game of Thrones now, which also just made the cover. Same thing will probably happen when the next season of Walking Dead starts too. It's nothing new for them.

I don't see the harm in trying to advertise a movie through the right outlets. I think the marketing team for The Hunger Games has been doing an excellent job.

They made a risky move by not showing much of the games but it's having a huge payoff by creating this huge allure and curiosity in audiences.

I shall casually sit by a gaggle of hot females in the theatre and do what Stifler does in the American Reunion trailer at the beach campfire. :o

Wise, very wise my friend.

Actually, I was way more touched by the deaths in Battle Royale than those in the Hunger Games.
In Battle Royale, the kids have a history together. They are classmates, some of them are friends, lovers...
In the Hunger Games, only one death kind of touched me and it was more because of the age of the person.
But yeah, Hunger Games is not about teen violence. I don't even think it's that violent.

What the author borrowed from Battle Royale is the concept of the games, but she added the poverty/starvation theme and the concept of Panem and the districts which I think was a really good idea.
And there's the whole reality tv/sponsors thing which is completely dumb in my opinion.
And of course, the big romance.

I like the Hunger Games like a guilty pleasure, but I think Battle Royale is better.
In your opinion, Battle Royale is just an excuse for lots of bloodshed, in my opinion, the Hunger Games are just an excuse for a teenage romance.

You should probably read the book if you like the film. The film is really one of the worst b movies I've ever watched. Not only did they fail to capture the true essence of the book, but the film itself is just horribly made all the way down to it's soundtrack, which sounded like they stole audio clips from old 50s-70s films in order to create their music.

First off, lol I know most Americans had never heard of Battle Royale before this and it will probably remain like this even after the release of the Hunger Games, but I don't believe her when she said she had never heard of it (that's my opinion).

Secondly, I think that's exactly one of the big failures of the books because it makes the whole games far less awful especially since
it was obvious than both her and Peeta would survive. And as much as I loved Peeta (he was my favourite character), the only way to make the book interesting other than in a romantic way, would have been to kill him. But then I'm not sure the books would have been so succesful with teenagers.
That's why I think that in the end, it's a book written for teenage girls with some sci-fi elements while Battle Royale is a violent film about human nature. There's your big difference.

Anyway, I won't talk about Battle Royale anymore because I actually like and want to see the Hunger Games. And it opens today in France :woot:

I think for the purposes of Collins's unrequited love story, it works, since it was essential that Katniss not know Peeta's dirty thoughts concerning her until the end, unfortunately, this also reduces every other character, especially those in the games, to faceless bowling pins you couldn't care less about. I suppose this is often the tragedy of first person POV stories, but probably moreso in the Hunger Games. In Battle Royale, the author lets the reader experience the whirlwind of thoughts and emotions going thru virtually all 42 contestants as they contemplate their mortality. So, when they do eventually die, it actually means something to us.

I love this trio...:hrt:

It would look alot less awkward if they had him stand on a box or chair and then crop out everyone's legs.

Man short actors get no love lol
I really wonder if both Liam and Chris will be able to both have good careers because with brothers in hollywood one of them stays famous while the other fades away.

Alright, Hunger Games. You win. I'll see you opening day :o.

I'm watching this on Saturday morning so I can get the $7.00 morning matinee ticket.

It was a bit of a "I like turtles" post I made there in retrospect. :funny:
