Seeing those gifs reminds me why I love that movie so much. The scene when Effie drew names from the bowl for the Quarter Quell is one of my favorites. Also Haymitch's reaction when President Snow announces who will participate in the Quell. Such great acting all around.

Thats what made CF such a great sequel, it developed all of the main characters from the 1st movie in such great ways.

This movie was so good. I've never read the books or anything and I just thought the first movie was ok, good but nothing too special but this was really great. I absolutely loved it and I am now thoroughly excited to see how it all plays out

This movie was so good. I've never read the books or anything and I just thought the first movie was ok, good but nothing too special but this was really great. I absolutely loved it and I am now thoroughly excited to see how it all plays out

Same here! Didn't think The Hunger Games was anything special but Catching Fire was amazing. Definitely excited for Mockingjay. I just hope the decision to split it into two parts won't effect the story negatively.

It's perceived as a movie for teenagers, or even worse, a movie for teenage girls. It's not considered a "serious" role, unlike, ummmm, American Hustle.

I didn't see Streep's performance so I can't comment but I agree with you about her being better than Bullock. And no disrespect to Bullock because I thought she did a good job in Gravity. I thought Lawrence was good in Hustle but she was better in Catching Fire so eventhough I knew it wasn't going to happen but I 100% would have perferred if she scored a nom for Catching Fire instead of the nom she nabbed for Hustle.

So a couple days ago I was told my Dad kinda loved Catching Fire. I never know what he is going to like but I was surprised. I probably shouldn't have been because he loves hard sci fi, you know sci fi with actual messages.

I think she wasn't nominated because it was Sci fi-ish. The Academy Awards still seem to enjoy snubbing the scifi/fantasy movies for the more important awards.
