The Hunger Games

According to the internet every thing would be better as a series on HBO or Showtime :whatever:

Hunger Games is fine as a movie series

if the movies get popular then they make almost two times the money with the public. it will work with HP and Twilight. of course its stupid from the studio to admit this now. because it makes it obvious to everyone that they only think about money. which is IMO a bad way to start promotion.

Yes. If the first movie is reasonably successful (and not a runaway success like a few book franchises), perhaps they will stick to a trilogy.

The feeling I got is that Lionsgate was planning a four-film series from the get-go when they bought the movie rights to the series. To top it off, all the major actors have a clause in their contract that includes three more movies. That way they won't have to renegotiate with the actors to include another movie, which is very pricey.

Who says it's going to be 90 minutes? LOTR, HP, and even Twilight are all 2 or 2 and a half hours.

I'm not worried, the books aren't long and Collins herself and Ross is writing the script, so they will find the best way to tell the story on screen. Since it's a young-adult series it wouldn't be up in either HBO's or Showtime's alley.

What difference does it make that it's a young adult series. HBO and Showtime have produced Band of Brothers, Dead Like Me, Carnivale Larry Sanders, etc.

Um, no, not according to the internet, according to common sense. It's commonly known that show runners and producers who work for those studios are given more free reign to create the show they want rather than dumb down their material to cater to the masses. Working on a film is a whole other ball game. All they're going to do with a film like this is create popcorn and not even good popcorn. Any internet nerd on here should know this already.

I just don't think HBO or Showtime would be interested to do an adaptation of the book series based on the shows they usually do. We haven't even see what Ross and & Co. will do with this, so I'll just wait and see how it turns out.

Danny Elfman together with T. Bone Burnett (who've won an Oscar for his work on Crazy Heart) will be scoring the movie.

Should be interesting. Eventhough I don't know anything about the books. And not interested in them either. And don't really care about the film as well. But it's new ground for Elfman so the score should be interesting. Oh I think Burnett is only writing the songs and only Elfman's writing the score.

Yep, that's more accurate, it's pretty good nonetheless that both are involved in the movie. It'll be interesting to hear Rue's Lullaby.

Not to sound like a moron, but why is this series called The Hunger Games? It's not like it's about Top Chef-style cook-offs or anything, so WTF?

It's not 5 women for one. There are 2 people from 12 different districts in each game. 1 male, 1 female. 24 kids all together. And it's not just for lifetime supply of bread. That's breaking down the premise to like the littlest detail.

The premise is kinda depressing if you ask me.

I know. I've read the books. (Well I'm in the middle of 3) They're awesome. I was just being silly.

Yahoo! Movies has debuted the motion poster for The Hunger Games, coming to theaters on March 23, 2012.

Directed by Gary Ross, The Hunger Games chronicles a dystopic Capitol which requires its twelve subjugated districts to pay tribute in the form of a teenage boy and girl, forced to participate in the annual "Hunger Games," a fight-to-the-death live televised event. Katniss Everdeen's little sister is chosen in the lottery to participate and Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to take her place. Although persevering through hardship is commonplace for Katniss, she must start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love in order to win the games and return home.

I like the sample of music that's played over the motion poster and while my preference is that the Mocking Jay pin catching on fire fits better for the second movie it does look rather nifty.

Glad to see that their promoting this thing. But I was expecting more. I guess I've been spoiled by all the Hobbit, TDKR, Spiderman reboot, and Avengers pics and teasers.

It's a line from a character in the book/movie. Effie Trinket. Elizabeth Banks character.

I'm surprised these motion posters haven't become more widespread.

Sounds a lot like Battle Royale this series does. Not a bad thing as I love Battle Royale.

Then again it also sounds a little like The Running Man as well. Good mixture of stuff.

That is one of the coolest posters I have ever seen :awesome: Why don't they do more posters like this?
