The Hype Encyclopedia - Part 1

For a second, I thought a mod would have came in here and started deleting posts.

Didn't EXCELSIOR claim that he had the word ''Hype'' copyrighted and therefore owned the rights to the word?

Spoons should have challenged him to try it. It sounds like it'd be an extremely hard case to win, otherwise 90% of unofficial fan pages on Facebook would get removed.
That would be considering Sony and other mega corporations lost their attempt to copyright the words "Blue-Ray" because they are common usage words.

Copywriting or trademarking the word "Hype" would similarly fail and amazingly enough, "Superhero" is co-owned by both Marvel and DC so that rules out copywriting "Superhero Hype" either.

I don't care if this gets me in trouble with the Hype overlords but I think it's sleazy and wrong whenever a company or huge site like this one engages in frivolous lawsuits against some small and powerless person or entity that isn't harming anyone.

Yeah, that's some next level bulls***. Where the hell was I when this happened? I would have instigated the hell out of the situation with the powers that be.

He doesn't. There are a number of web addresses that use it, and the word predates those sites and this site. He might have "SuperheroHype" copyrighted, however.

I don't think EXCELSIOR even has SuperheroHype copywritten. Mirko, probably - but def not Excel.

and how the heck would that have been useful? all it probably would've done is get you banned. you're a good poster, that'd be a stupid way to lose you.

i don't know much about that situation, nor do i really care. But the Hype site is a business to Mirko and co. They pay to run it, they pay for the servers, they pay people to work on them etc. This site is worth thousands upon thousands of dollars so they can run the site as they deem fit.

They want the forums PG-13 and the Mods have to respect that and moderate it accordingly. Not everyone who frequents the site likes those ratings, most are indifferent, but it's their site so we have to follow suit.

besides Warhammer, you're a smart guy. Be careful before joining the fight with Aesop :o

New special entry

Food Lounge:
Ramadhan 1435 (Lunar year) starts along with June 29th 2014, Parker Wayne brings all the food threads in the Lounge up, turning our great Hype! Lounge to the Great Food Lounge

* 06/28/2014 Sawyer creates Worst Soda Thread...moments later Piper Maru creates Miracle Whip or Mayonnaise Thread, Parker Wayne goes on a Food Thread resurrection frenzy. The Food Occupy movement takes hold of the front page.

Its Mirko and Co.'s right to mod these forums how they see fit and maintain a PG-13 environment, but I think Warhammer is talking about the facebook group, Hypesters, that was...well it appears, from what I can tell from whats been written about it in here, it was bullied until the creator closed it.

Quite clearly my death-match with the food fetishist will have to be detailed here for future generations. :o

That was the worst Hype Encyclopedia entry I can remember.

What is this? A children party?
You guys are really picky about what you choose worth a wiki entry.

Hype entry: "Bamf farted, everyone laughed."
Some folks: "YAY, good call."

Hype entry: "different nonsense."
Some folks: "GTFO."

Now you understand.

I think the original Food Lounge incident was better. It felt like it was ages ago!

You can say that again.
