The Hype Encyclopedia - Part 1

It sounds like epic trollery on the mods' part and I applaud them for it. :o

I didn't witness this epic thread (wish I had), but reading this makes JustABill sound like JustASoreLoser. Waaah waaah you called up your friends on the bat-board and beat me in an internet death-match even though I should be like totally way more popular than you and have way more votes, according to me. :o JustABill got spanked by someone he underestimated and couldn't deal with the delicious, humiliating defeat. :word:

The hilarious part about it was that it wasn't even like Cory was stealing his votes or leaving him without any at all. It was a tie that pissed him off. Just made him look irrational.

Mods shouldn't be allowed to delete threads that reek of such awesomeness. Such threads must be preserved for future generations of Hypesters.

I'm actually sad I missed that now.

Sawyer, you forgot one part:

Mods: We all vote for Cory.

Billy: F**k all of you for colluding against me!

*after the closure of the thread*

Matt: Billy never actually won! There were fake votes!

Billy: :exp:

I want to request a death-match with JustABill. Don't think of it as voting for me or him. Think of it as voting for him to have another breakdown.

I think the whole thing soured Billy on the Hype...

Billy's never entering a Deathmatch again, and I doubt that he's coming back to the hype after the whole Michael B Jordan thing.

Now there's an Encyclopedia entry. :o

Please. Tell me about the Michael B. Jordan thing. I need to know.

I don't think I'll ever enter a deathmatch. With all my bashing of the batboards they may well rise up and destroy me.

I would totally lose any death-match I entered, so I wouldn't enter one either. But unlike Bill I'd try not to stake my emotional stability on the outcome.

The Michael B Jordan Controversey: In May 2013, A rumor started around the internet stating the Michael B Jordan, an African American actor was the favorite to play The Human Torch, a character that had been for all Marvel iterations had been a caucasian character in the Fantastic Four Reboot. This sparked a controversy and a huge argument in the Human Torch thread on if characters that had previously been Caucasian should have their race changed.

The argument had been exacerbated by a Cracked article called "The 5 Most Insulting Defenses of Nerd Racism" writting in support of Jordan that specifically called out user pr0xyt0xin, which sparked even more argument to the point at which the word Racist was temporarily banned from the thread and from parts of the hype. The issue is currently ongoing as no one has officially been cast in the Fantastic Four reboot.

A Cracked article actually called out someone posting here?! Was it written by a Hypester?

I didn't want any part of that debate. I quite like Michael B. Jordan as an actor, but I didn't like the extremes everyone was going to. "Oh, you don't like the idea? Then you must be a racist!" "You do like the idea? You must not give a **** about the source material then..."

No thanks.

The problem was that so many posters were thinking in absolutes when there really isn't one. Personally, I don't think there is an absolute right way to go casting because both sides do have a point. Sure, I'm on one side of it, but I understand the other side, actually because of that thread. Too bad the logical posts in the thread got drowned out by what you're talking about.

Casting Jordan as the Torch would be a different move. They had many of the same complaints with Micheal Clark Duncan in Daredevil which I thought was an inspired choice. I personally couldn't think of a better actor to portray Kingpin.

Thread needs more entries. :o

All of the entries are on the second page. I'll put it on a new page once it starts.

I was a big fan of Daredevil, whether it be the theatrical version or the Director's Cut. Although I will say the DC was much better. And MCD was perfect for the Kingpin, and probably my favourite part of the film. It's why I'll never care about the whole "race-switching" thing. I'll wait to see the finished project and judge the actor by how he performed.

It reminds me of posts I've seen from several years back about how TDK would fail terribly because Heath had no chance in portraying the Joker properly.

Reminds me of the good ole Laurence Fishburne as Perry White thread.
