The Hype Encyclopedia - Part 1

Maybe ultra lantern finally found a movie he wasn't looking forward to seeing and it broke him.

I never got the Duke/Ultra Lantern stuff.

Duke was an engaging, interesting, generally nice guy poster.

Ultra-Lantern was nice, but responded to people like a robot.

Me: "How are you today?"

UL: "Wednesday."

Plus, UL just disappeared one day which was strange, seeing as he/she (not sure) was posting dozens of times a day and then stopped suddenly and never returned. But Dukey's still here.

As the person who started it, I'll explain. Duke didn't really talk that much when he was a newbie. Some of his posts he didn't say much in it either, and both were nice. I joked that they were both Duke and Ultra Lantern once, and I got a PM from Ultra Lantern and then Duke. I thought it was silly to PM someone over it, so I kept joking about it to the point at which other Hypesters did it too because they both took the joke way more seriously than it should have I thought was funny. In short, I was being a dick.

Duke eventually got more comfortable here to the point at which he started posting more of his actual personality and Ultra Lantern disappeared.

Because he didn't need the ultra lantern persona anymore. It was like me, myself and Irene :o

As an expert in dickish behavior, I'll agree it was indeed a little mean, Parsawkyer. :o

Without sarcasm, I'll say Duke is probably one of the nicest, most positive people on the Hype. I've never seen him be mean to anyone, really.

Ultra-Lantern was nice too, I guess. But he was nice in the way an unfeeling robot is nice. It was like talking to my toaster.

i wish abaddon was still running this

Need a Kurosawa entry.

Kurosawa - The man who loved the prequel films of Star Wars, but admonished any changes to the lore of books and comics unless approved by the creators. This made it quite difficult for Superman fans as the creators were no longer with us and thus any changes to the character was deemed unecessary and morally wrong. He was known for his long-winded rants where he would state Superman's trunks were to be perserved and to be rid of them was sacrilege. He was eventually banned, but the details of which are not quite known.

Has CC ever posted in the Hype Photo Album? We need documentation and proof of the rumors about her actual Hotness Quotient :o

She's very girl-next-door. :)

hopefuldreamer - (formerly known as hopefulsuicide) Avid Superman fan and resident English party girl. She mainly lingers in the Superman boards and the Relationship thread of the Community and is known for her very well-thought and written posts which read more like an essay. She makes her apparent attraction to actor Henry Cavill known and is known to be quite supportive of his casting and the casting of his co-star and on-screen lover Amy Adams. Although disappointed and arguably crushed by MOS, she still maintains that Henry is quite a Superman, but shouldn't kill ever again. She's also the reigning Deathmatch Champion beating several mainstays amongst the Hype's elite social class, known as The-Always-Heres, becoming an underdog story.

Here's a troll no one remembers but me since he was the first I've encountered:

UUbee - (also known as georgeWBush) a troll who appeared during the production of The Dark Knight Rises. He claimed he was an insider of WB and had sensitive information pertaining to the film's storyline. When posters mocked him and his claims he referred to Bane's crater-like scalp as being an important reference to a major plot point in the story, and went on a rant and even posted images circling the supposed 'craters' to prove it. He was later banned only to come back several times with a new username that cleverly used the initial 'WB'.

A personal favorite.

TEH!SCRUFFY! - A term used in support of actor Ben Affleck's beard stubble to remain when in costume as the character Batman. It is a parody of the terms, 'TEH!PUFFY!' and 'TEH!PUZZLY'.

For you Superman board users:

The Trunks Debate - a polarizing debate regarding if Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder should include Superman's famous trunks for the MOS suit. The debate gave way to the over-use of the word "deconstructionist" and the ban on the use of the word, "panties". Eventually, the debate went into an infinite loop even after the suit was officially revealed. The debate culminated in the closure of the original Superman Costume thread and several permanent bans.

Batboards!:

Goggle-Ears - A term used to describe Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle's goggles which have the ability to flip up upon the wearer's head and resemble cat ears. The term has mainly been used as a slight against Hathaway's costume and has been a major criticism from Batman fans as they believe Nolan should have came up with a more realistic concept.

The Great Permawhite Fiasco- In late 2007, when the first clear images of Heath Ledger as the Joker in The Dark Knight surfaced, it aroused furious debate in the Batboards as to whether Nolan/Ledger's interpretation of the Joker would retain the bleached-white skin he had in the comics (or "Permawhite" as it came to be known). Naturally, as many things do on the Batboards, things got out of hand.

Does anyone remember the user who claimed to have spent all his money just to see TDKR and tried to ask for some rent money from Hypesters by donating it to his PayPal?
