Ok I'll give you one of SM3s faults

I could care less about Venom getting more screen time, I wanted to see how the rise and fall of Brock and his dark side in more depth. They kept on hinting at this in interviews but very little came to show in the final product. Basically what they showed was O gee lost my job, want Parker dead now. Now that reasoning is all fine and dandy if they had developed his unstable mind a bit more, cuz before that church scene he just seemed like any other person.

But you just stated you simply wanted something different than the movie was going for. It never was about the rise and fall of Venom, he was there to portray a character consumed by hatred and revenge. Plus, calling sharing a coffee an "amazing, amazing night" and introducing yourself as somebody's daughter's date while he's watching her fight for her life kind of imply a slightly unstable person, don't they?

You pretty much lost credibility when you insulted every one who doesn't like it by saying that we want simplistic action films.

I assure you that was not my intention and if it sounded like that, I apologize. My comment (which had little to do with SM3) wasn't targeted at anyone here, but rather the general public, and I've no intention of getting in a heated debate over a film. I was just stating that for such a simplistic film, Iron Man seems to get much more praise than it deserves. Frankly, complaining about lack of character development in one film while loving another that doesn't even bother with it does seem a little strange to me. That doesn't mean I can't understand other reasons for disliking Spidey 3.

You compared how the Godfather had alot of characters, too. Two completely different styled movies, and the Godfather had a good extra 30 minutes on Spider-Man 3. The Godfather was a story about a Mafia family who were all closely connected, and 90% of them alone were superbly established in the wedding scene.

Spider-Man 3 brought in three new major characters and gave them a rush job, while trying to juggle Harry's story as the Goblin, and the Peter/MJ melodrama. Not to mention the symbiote storyline, which didn't even become a factor in the plot until the 2nd hour of the movie.
Not to mention making up stupid contrivances like making Sandman Ben's killer just so he could have any kind of relevance to the plot.

The revenge story should have centred around Peter and Harry.

EDIT: I just realized that this is a thread for people who love the movie. We shouldn't be discussing this here, because I certainly did not love the movie. Apologies for going off topic here.

What your not getting is that Iron Man and Spider- Man are totally different films that were trying to do two different things. Would you fault a Will Ferrell comedy for not being dramatic enough or how about a bad ass Bruce Willis Flick for him not crying ? Iron Man was almost a perfect version of what it was trying to be. Spider Man 3 seemed to have no idea what it wanted to be and failed at nearly every thing it tried.

Of course, but thats an aspect of his character your taking away. And I agree with Joker, the revenge should have been centered around Peter and Harry. Venom, hell even the symbiote should not have been in this film.

Not really it just shows hes a jerk that gets led on easily, nothing more. The novilization made him seem like a stalker with a big chip on shoulder.

I just mentioned that having multiple characters is not necessarily bad. I never compared the two films, nor their use of their characters. Believe me, I have so much respect for the Godfather, that I wouldn't be willing to compare it to many films.

An aspect that was never there in the movie. That only means you don't like it as an adaptation, not that it did a bad job as a film.

I don't understand why so many didn't like this film. Everyones complaints aren't really valid.Expecially the dance scene. Every movie no matter how good has at least one pointless scene.IMO.that scene did not take me from the movie. I thought Spidey 3 was the best of the trilogy. I can't wait for 4,5,6

That's BS man just because people complaints didn't matter to you does not mean they aren't valid. I have said it before I think Spider-Man 3 was just barely average. However, I think it could of been two really great movies my biggest problem is that they put so much in to this movie and it really didn't give the proper amount of time to anything. The dance scene sucked and was absolutely idiotic, but it still could of been good even with that in it.

Right. Sorry thats the complaint I should have added in my post. I aggre with you they should have split the movie up. But IMO its still a excellent movie. And right now theirs nothing you can do about it. So i'm not going to complain about it.

Well I'm not going to accept a movie as excellent simply because there is nothing I can do about it.

Probably the one major scene that alot of people don't like is when Peter's strolling down the street with his new black suit(under his regular clothes)trying to look cool. I thought that was a fun moment and as already mentioned,it showed that deep down Peter is still just a geek. I enjoyed that moment alot. It was kinda like the "Raindrops" moment in Spidey 2.
Now,the whole jazz club moment was one thing I didn't like and thought was way too much. However,neither scene ruined the film for me. I loved it(with the exception of the lack of Venom,of course).

Thanks for being so reasonable, about my opinion. Ya know, they actually meant to have his dance be a little outrageous, to show that he was risking his identity, just to hurt MJ. I respect your opinion too, and I never said I didn't like the strut scene, in fact I thought it was great; I was just saying it didn't need to be as long as it was.
And just a note to everyone here. If you have the DVD and have a lot of complaints about the movie; watch it with the commentary, because a lot of questions are answered.

I do accept it for what it is. An average movie. Of course I'm being a little generous because I liked the first two.

One of the things I like is that the film never forgets about the people involved. It jacked up the action big time,but it wasn't just a mindless action film. Once again,Raimi reminded us that there is a man behind the mask(although,the constant unmasking by both Spidey and Venom was a bit much). The movie did have more story than needed,but better too much than not enough at all.
Yes,some of the situations may be a bit cheesy,but it's still a character driven film with heart. That's more than you can say about most summer blockbusters. The very last scene when Peter and MJ say no words,and just embrace has alot of weight.
