The -I Really don't see the appeal of..... Thread

What up peeps? Long time lurker, first time poster. Here's mine:

Twilight-Vampires should be ugly, scary, and kill young women not fall in love with them.

Fanboyism- Not everybody has to be all in love with some creation just because you are. If you like something fine but don't waste countless hours trying to persuade me that my opinion is wrong or invalid because I don't agree with you. :cmad:

Kristen Bell-Generic blonde. Next!

I'll think of some more later.

I don't see the appeal of the rapture.

If you're a Christian and it happens, the appeal is that you get to ascend to Heaven with Jesus and then spend a thousand years with him on earth, only earth has gotten an extreme makeover and is awesome and not polluted, etc.

Amen to that. I guess they'll see the appeal when they are going through tribulations on Earth.:oldrazz:

Yup yup. I'm fairly certain I'll be left behind but it shouldn't be too hard to get one's Christianity act together once the s**t hits the fan afterward.

I disagree. There is no guarantee that if it happens, you'll have time to think, "Oh well, I sinned without caring my whole life, but now that it comes down to the wire, I'll convert for real this time." A whole heap of people will end up dying/being killed before they could convert, with the reasoning that they had a ton of time and could have turned their life around when they had the chance.

How long does it take to convert? You can accept Heyzeus into your heart in like 4 seconds

I hope they show the Dark Knight Rises after the rapture.

It's not the time that matters, but whether or not you're genuine. It seems extremely disingenuous to only choose to convert after you've sinned as long as humanly possible and then only accept him when it's convenient for you. You have to genuinely want to do it, not just say you're going to because ok, now the world is ending.

I can dig it, I guess God'll know who means it or not. Jesus got on of the guys on the crosses next to him to convert as he was bleeding out so it's def doable.

Getting yourself straight with Jesus now really seems like a no-brainer doesn't it? Since we're on the subject I don't see the appeal of some people wanting to spend eternity in a lake of fire with Satan and the other fallen angels.

According to the Holy Scripture it says God is fair & just. However he does have a feelings & patience to a point. With that in mind, I believe that there is a limited time for repent. Think of the incidents of Noah & Sodom & Gommarah as an example.:o

Good point but think of the people that are going to die from shock of seeing Jesus appear and their friends, family, and Hype members go in the air to meet him. They are totally screwed.

Extreme Makeover: Rapture Edition? :oldrazz:

Like in Peter Pan when the dog Nana wanted to fly away to Neverland with the kids for the first time.

Wait, was that movie about Jesus?

Your thinking one dimensional per say, because Jesus is the giver of life, so it won't matter if you die of shock.

He did, but they also didn't have anyone telling them that Jesus was the Messiah and to repent, etc their entire lives.

The fascinating thing about the "end of times" is that every religion has some form of heaven, etc. and all of them believe they are correct about it.

Listen woman, if you're gonna be on "Team Second Chance" with me, I'm gonna need some more optimism from you :(

Supernatural's heaven(s) has to be my fav interpretation yet. Sucks you have to figure out some algorithm to visit other people's heaven but it's pretty sweet otherwise.

On the subject of this thread, I'm about to burst out the most controversial opinion in this thread:

I don't understand the appeal of religion. I don't need it to tell me how to havegood morals or be a good person and I don't see any believable benefits from it that you can prove, beyond you'll see once you pass on or the end of world comes upon us which ever happens first.

I believe in second chances, but if you're going strictly by the Christian Bible, it is very confusing to try to figure out what goes and what doesn't. For example, as you know, I genuinely accepted Christ into my heart many years ago, was baptized, super active in church, yada yada. But now I disagree with most organized religion and am not sure what I believe. Am I still "covered" by the fact that I was genuine so long ago? Or is it even worse for me because God will say I had the knowledge but chose to scorn it?

Part of why I stopped going to church is because I didn't want to be a hypocrite like the majority of the people I saw attending. I feel the same way about this whole "waiting until it's best for ME to cash in on Jesus" thing.
