I'm surprised people don't bring up this arc more often when talking about good post-BND stories. This was, IMHO, the first good arc since the reboot. The villain had a really clever math-based motivation and the heroic bum was a great character. Plus, I'm a sucker for blizzard-based Spider-Man stories, like this one, the Spider-Ben story "Media Blizzard" and the classic Wendigo story from the 80's. There's something about Spidey being run-down, alone in an empty snow-choked New York and braving the freezing elements, which seems to heighten the danger. This arc also had one of the great covers too, which is not this one, but the I think #555 with Spidey trudging through vast white plains of snow. It gave a good sense of the cold and desolate alienation he is going through and it's beautiful.

Yeah, that was my favorite out of the original four stories for Brand New Day. While the other three were trying to introduce supporting characters and villains for the long run, this story was nice and self contained, and did in fact have a pretty cool villain as well as an enjoyably unlucky situation for Spidey. Wells and Bachalo were the best of the original team to me, it's too bad neither of them do many issues of ASM anymore.

That's the one. I already talked about the reasons why I love this cover. It's also very reminiscent of ASM #408. I am a sucker for snow covers.

Aloha,
I'm sure his low ratings had something to do with him leaving.Successful movie scripts don't guarantee successful comic books.
Spidey rules

He did write a pretty okay Daredevil arc once. And 'Back to the Future' is an undeniable classic (not so much the sequels). But yeah, his Spidey stuff was certifiably awful, like Terry Kavanagh territory.

Gale is still a part of the Web-Heads... he just hasn't written any stories... I think they just use him for ideas.

He wrote a story in #600, as did Zeb Wells, but as far as I know, the main group is Dan Slott, Mark Waid, Joe Kelly, and Fred Van Lente, while Gale and Wells do a story every once in a while.

I may be in the minority with this, but I actually really like Chris Bachelo's art.

Aloha,
So, only Gugg not Gale is officially leaving?
Spidey rules
Gale is going to be writing the upcoming online Spidey comics on Marvel's website; I don't think he's got any stories in the actual book in the can.

I would say so... as of ASM #609, Gale, along with Kelly, Slott, Van Lente, Waid & Wells were still part of the WH's...

:yay:
