And for the record, I thought Skin Deep was alright. The whole purpose of the story was to get the Parkers moved into Avengers Tower. And it did that, plus started Pete down a road with Tony Stark that he would later regret.

All they had to do was have Norman blackmail Gwen into being with him or he would put out false and malicious statements about her father and we could have all accepted the premise of SP.Where is the Madgoblin these days. He had a great attempt at trying to fit SP into continuity.

I really think it would have been better if they were Peter's kids. I would like to see those kids return again.

Sins Past would have been a lot worse if those kids were Peter's. Norman is a secondary character (and so is Gwen), so while people may talk about character assassination or whatever, at the end of the day the damage to them does not matter as much as the potential damage to Peter. Two grown kids would have been a jump-the-shark moment for sure (not that Spidey hasn't already jumped the shark a half dozen times). Regardless, 'Sins Past' was a terrible story and I don't understand why JMS gets such kudos. His first year or two were decent, but he pretty much sucked from then on. The execution of his ideas and his dialogue may have been good, but the actual plots were dreadful (case in point this stinker!). I really hope Sarah Stacey (who is just a Gwen clone really... last I checked daughters don't look exactly like their mothers down to the same damn hairband) and the laughable Grey Goblin really need to stay gone for good. The sooner this is forgotten the better, imo.

Ah right. But clones was a dirty word during JMS's run.

Speaking of which it also would have made more sense to have the dead Aunt May be a clone instead of a genetically altered actress (wtf?! Another total jump-the-shark moment!)

Ironically both 'The Final Chapter' (90's version) and 'Sins Past' were much worse stories than anything that came out of the clone saga.

I agree. Two years though? I'd give him six months! That first Morlun arc was brilliant then after that? He wrote a bunch of talking heads and sappy interactions. He wasn't writing Spidey, imo. He turned it into something else!
