Foil Variant

I love this 2-parter with Norman abducting Peter. This was probably the best Mackie issue post-relaunch (and that was due I suspect, to Jenkins more or less ghost-writing his issue).

Yeah, Roger Stern wrote the prelude to this (in a mini-series), and Jenkins wrote the conclusion in PPSM. That was clearly the best issue of the entire story as well.

I got the foil variant. I didn't even know it was a variant, I thought that was the regular cover:o

Yeah, I agree. I have the trade these and the Stern issues were collected in.

Aloha,
It seems that they produced more foil than regular covers for this issue. The regular cover goes for as much as $40 on eBay:wow:.

You have a point about that leg, but I really liked Larsen's stuff.

I had forgotten he had done some (relatively) recent issues!

Erik Larsen sucks.

If by "sucks" you mean "a talented guy, who was roped into penciling a terrible Howard Mackie story that he had no enthusiasm for" then yeah, I'd tend to agree. Larsen has gone on record as saying that this is one of the worst stories he's ever penciled. Not a surprise he didn't put much effort into it. On the other hand, 'Savage Dragon' can be a pretty fun read (and not just "Hulk with a fin" as its detractors scoff) and I actually dig his early artwork on ASM and Spider-Man from the early 90's.
