I remember really enjoying this version of hypnotist Jack, and Luke Ross's art as derivative as it was, was still underrated.

I've never heard someone described as "derivative" and "underrated" in the same sentence. :cwink:

I enjoyed Ross's stint on Spec in the 90's. He could effortlessly switch between moody and light atmosphere on a dime, which was essiential when doing the art for a writer like JM DeMatteis. I didn't really like his recent stuff in ASM last year (the "Who was Ben Reilly?" arc). His work had matured to the point where it lost the distinctive qualities that once made him stand apart. It was a little too clean and realistic, which made it a bit dull.

I wish we could get the old Ross back.

qft. I thought exactly the same thing. I was looking forward to seeing his art again but it had changed so much that it didnt seem like Ross had done it.

Yeah, I guess what I meant to say was although you can really see his influences, his art really rocks. :yay: Back then, he didn't seem as popular as he seems now too.

And I agree, I like this earlier stuff better.
