Such a goofy story. I loved it. Classic take on King Kong/ Beauty and the Beast with a barfly playing the part of Beauty.

Is Sub-Mariner a bad guy or a good guy? Hasn't he killed countless people... or hasn't that at least been implied by him having tsunamis crash through New York or giant, atlantic monsters lay waste to it?

I think he's written best when he just doesn't give a crap about Spidey or the rest of the human race. They've practically destroyed his ocean home. He should be indifferent at best and vengeful at worst.

From here down to the 140s-150s will probably always be the period that I'm the fondest of. I see any of these covers, and I can exactly remember having to get my bike up to a certain speed downhill to clear the next uphill on my way to the drug store. I can still see the little cleared spot in the woods that I would take my spin-rack treasures (and some peanut butter m&m's!) and enjoy pure escapism (before I even knew what that word was.)

I think the point that you started will always be your favorite, whether it be the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s or 2000s. Some of you have seen some covers and already felt that. And a few(the few here that are older than me) will a little down the road in this thread.

So I'm gonna give my own personal shout out to TMOB and thank him for letting me feel like a kid all over again. MAN, I loved those comics!

Not necessarily. I started reading in 1991, but the period I'm most fond of is the much maligned "clone-saga" from 1994 to 1996. There was something so unpredictable about that time. You never knew what would happen next. And I didn't have the deep-seated attachment yet to Peter Parker that older fans had, so the twists and turns didn't jolt me as me as much as it did to others. It was just exciting and fresh. You never knew who would die and who would live. Plus, I loved Ben Reilly and Kaine.

But I know exactly what you mean about escapism. :yay:

Well, as my username would imply, I agree with you about the clone saga.

How has nobody in the comics ever wondered why Pete is so ripped?
