Ok, everyone. Let's vote! Which # 200 is better? Right now I'm still deciding since I like them both.

I also like them both, but I lean towards Amazing because it's such an incredible follow up to the very origin of Amazing Spider-Man.

I definitely like them both, but I think Amazing #200 is almost the standard by which all anniversary issues should go by.

Really? Because Kingpin shouldn't have superhuman strength. It's just wrong. The Daredevil books in the 80's established how a character like Kingpin should be handled... as the ultimate manipulator behind the scenes. Best Spidey/Kingpin fight was during the 'Back in Black' saga, because that's exactly what someone with superhuman strength would do to a strong, yet normal man.... beat him to a pulp.

I couldn't agree with you more. From the very first appearance of the Kingpin in Amazing #51, his strength compared to Spidey's has been exaggerated.For that matter, unless we accept that Peter holds back his punches to his detriment, ONE punch from Spider-Man is supposed to knock out the average human being.Boxers and martial artists do it often. Peter Parker is ten times stronger than any normal human being.

You have to understand the circumstances of the fight...

Spidey had one arm in a sling, and was worried about Aunt May, whom he had heard "died" the issue before, but then got suspicious at the name of the doctor (a name not heard of since ASM #24), so was on his way to investigate when the Kingpin traps him, and has only 12 hours left to kill Spider-Man (Vanessa had given Wilson a 24 hour deadline to get out of his life of crime, and he wanted the last 12 dedicated to killing Spider-Man (screw DareDevil... the Kingpin is a Spider-Man VILLAIN)... so Spidey was not 100%, and the Kingpin was full of rage... made it a great fight.

Eh, still not buying it. It's still a normal person taking on someone with superhuman strength, arm in a sling or not. If they wanted a super-strong Kingpin then they should have just established he was a mutant at the outset. Otherwise he was best depicted and reinvented for the better by Frank Miller in the 80's.

Let's just agree to disagree on this.

This cover is so nightmarish. I love it. 'Death of Vermin' was pretty good, but a little too heavy on the pathos. I preferred the earlier Vermin stories such as 'Child Within' and 'Last Hunt' that balanced the action and psychological drama a bit better.

And I love the ASM #195 cover too. It's obvious it was the inspiration for those One More Day covers that Joe Q drew a couple years ago. Never read that issue, but it looks fun.

Probably the second best Spider-Man story ever told... next to ASM #200...
