I won't debate Spidey vs Cap, so I'll be generous and call that a draw.
Thor vs Sandman - c'mon
She-Hulk vs Puma - super c'mon
Sersi vs Prowler - ?????
Quasar vs Rocket Racer - are you f'in kidding me?

What was the strategy of this team: make them all fall down laughing, and have Sandman choke them all to death?

I would debate Spidey vs Cap. This is another dishonest "Spidey is equally matched with Kingpin" situation. Cap has the strength of a normal man in the fittest possible conditions, equivalent to an Arnold Schwarzenegger in his absolute "Mr Universe" prime. Unfortunately for Cap, Spidey has twenty times that strength because he's a freak of nature who has the proportionate strength of a spider coursing through his body. It realistically shouldn't be a contest unless Spidey is pulling his punches.

Incidentally I have that issue.

Not Spidey related (except for the lunch-box it seems), but I like this cover.

I have to admit, I'm having a hard time recalling this specific Marvel Team-Up reboot. I remember the one from the late 90's, but I must have clear missed this particular revival.
 
This MTU came out around 5 years ago... you can probably pick it up in trades, or maybe individual issues in the dollar bin... it's Robert Walking Dead Kirkman, so it was pretty tight with continuity... I remember around issue #4 or 5, there was Cap talking about an older adventure with an old school "asterix" with a box telling the reader what issues he was talking about... at the time, I hadn't seen one of those in a Marvel comic in a looooooooooooooong time...

Also, I believe that issue #4 is the comic that Steve Carr (I think that's his name) is reading in "The 40 year old virgin"...

Poor JJJ doesn't realize he has pictures of a merely unconscious Ben Reilly. And I guess at the time neither did the reader!

I picked this issue up at a 'con when I was about 12. Haven't seen it in years. :csad:

Pick up the trades, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. This series made me a big fan of Scott Kolins. And even though nothing outrageously spectacular happens, I think it was nice, old-fashioned storytelling.

If I remember right, there's a classic back and forth between Spidey and Cap where Cap informs him that pretty much everyone finds him annoying. Great scene!

I think this issue also had an old school asterix (*) to claim what issues an adventure that Cap was talking about had happened in... up until that point, it had been YEARS since I saw one of those in a Marvel book.
