The topic's pretty straightforward. How important do you think Uncle Ben is going to be in the next instalment of Spider-Man?

Taking into consideration that Ben Parker is an integral part of Peter's quest to take out Sandman, and from what we have read from insiders reports, the script summary, and the Q & A, I'd say, Uncle Ben is going to be a reminder to Spider-Man, that ---

"With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility."

Thoughts?

Yeah, I think he will indeed be an integral part of what makes Pete see sense.

'Just because you can beat him up, doesn't give you the right to.' That quote will surely be a major part of what helps Pete out in the end. I mean, this film has the power to turn Spidey into a hero of justice rather than one of revenge -- Sandman especially, and maybe Harry too.:ninja:

To answer your question though, I think uncle Ben is THE most important aspect of the entire Spidey mythos -- he is important in every Spidey story, and every action that Spidey does . . . it is Ben who laid the tracks for Pete to be the hero he is, and all Pete needs to do is make sure he stays on course. By the sound of it in this next film it seems Aunt May is the signal operator who helps the Spidey-train avoid collision. :o

Or to put it another way, Uncle Ben planted the seed for Pete to be a great hero; Aunt May tends to the garden. :oldrazz:

Well, there's nothing wrong with the odd metaphor. :hyper:

even if his name is just mentioned, i feel he is still very integral

doesn anyone know if there will be any flashback talks between pete and uncle been like in SM2?

Ben will be the final straw in forcing Peter to remove the symbiote, that is possibly the most vital role there could be in this movie

Gold star and a smiley face :)

Yup, coz the nail got hit on the head by you ;)

Good post. I'm in agreement.:hyper:

agreed, very good analogy:yay:

Uncle ben will defenitley have an important part in this film. he is what starts what this film is about which is revenge and forgivness. I belive Uncle Ben should play an important role in the films because he is afterall who caused peter to be spider-man. in this film Peter has to learn that revenge is the wrong route to take and it's a lesson that needs to be learned. Uncle Ben is what makes peter get up in the morning and go fight crime over and over again. without Uncle ben then spidey3 would be different, afterall we are going to see a flashback of sandman and the burglar with Uncle Ben. so yeah Uncle Ben shouldn't be have a small roll because that wouldn't be right considering how peter has to have the responsibility of doing the right thing which is yet another reason why he has to get rid of the symbiote and without uncle ben peter never would have had responsibility over his power and how he uses it.

back to my earlier question...
what do you think the odds of another talk with uncle ben (like in SM2) are?

I'm not sure to be honest -- I liked it in Spidey 2, Pete's deep dark place where he talks to his conscience in the guise of Uncle Ben . . . but I think with all that is going in in this latest edition to the franchise they will have different opportunities to show Pete the error of his ways and the road forward. I do like the idea, but think that it may be more effective just left as a one-off occasion.

I'm leaning towards that not happening again. :)

i think your right when it comes to the emotional impact part

Also makes you wonder the importance of Norman Osborne in this one too. How big of an influence will he be on Harry throughout the movie? How often will we see him?

I've got a feeling that we'll see quite a bit of Norman Osborne in this one.

I think it will just be the mirror part

I think it will just be the mirror part

So do I.

This is Harry's time as the Goblin. Don't want Norman overshadowing him. Even in the comics, Norman's haunting ghost was kept to a minimum.

Harry may however hear normans voice every so often, as a guide/influence

I think Norman will appear twice (in the mirror). The first time will be before Harry decides to take his revenge and the second time will be when Harry is thinking if he should help Peter or not.

Interesting question.

While Ben is one of if not THE most important character in Peter's life it is hard to know how much he is going to influence Pete in removing the Symbiote. Basically because we have Pete lobbing the Pumpkin Bomb at Harry and then he throws MJ to the floor and looks at his suit. So what is the deciding factor? Will he also think about "with great power comes great responsibility" to finally push him into "I have to get rid of this thing"?

Obviously with Sandman now being Uncle Ben's killer this adds to the relationship of hero and villian and that alone is important.

I do think that Ben will influence his decision in removing the symbiote but I am not sure what the final deciding factor will be. Something tells me throwing MJ to the ground, but we shall see.

thats what I think to. then when Norman asks harry why he hasen't killed peter parker, harry then says something and betrays his father to go to help peter.
