The Incredible Hulk Gallery: The Official Pictures Thread

The TV show was a classic, it just fell off when they started making those tv movies. Those were just Lame.

Erh... TV show or not TV show, the truth is that the Hulk is not popular, I like Hulk, he is my second fav comic character, but lets face it he is only popular [today] among comicbook fans

Popular..you may be right about that. But well known, and certainly recognizable...he is up there.
I guarantee, you ask the normal dolt off of the street to name superheros and the first ones out of his/her mouth will be (and probably in this order) Superman, Batman, Spider-man Wonder Woman, and Hulk. You might get a Wolverine mentioned before Hulk, but he has only come to the popular conscious since X-men came out. I also think you could show most people a picture of the Hulk, and they would know exactly who it is. So perhaps Hulk isn't popular. so to speak, but he is as engrained in the popular consciousness as any of those guys.

He's popular, he's recognizanle, and he has an immediate appeal on kids and little children...

"Popular" was a poor choice of wording, perhaps. Not popular per se, but well-known & recognizable to most, including non-fans of either the comic or the series.

When Universal secured rights to 4 of Marvel's characters, they eventually adapted them all for TV. I have no idea why Dr. Strange was in that line up. Nothing against the character, mind you. He's a pretty cool dude, and a rather unique take on a 'superhero' at that; just not what I would have thought of when listing the top 4 characters. Actually I would have thought Iron Man would rank above the Doc, or Thor perhaps?

Anyhow... The Hulk comic inspired the TV show. The show inspired The Rampaging Hulk magazine, reprints of his TTA issues, and the 80's cartoon. Inspiration for the 90's cartoon is a little cloudier. I'd say as much or more straight from comics sales at the time as much as fans of the TV series (and their young kids). The '03 movie was a fairly safe gamble, due as much to the success of the comic book superhero genre on film (more or less) at the time. Everyone trotted out their heavy hitters first, for the most part. Blade was a surprise and probably did well because there was less pressure and no real expectations from either the film or comics industry and Blade fans; whose numbers are but a fraction of the X-Men / Hulk / Batman / Superman / Spider-Man fanbase. 1st, 2nd & 3rd generation Hulk comic fans and 1st and second generation TV show fans got the initial push into the theaters and were probably the most opposed as far as the material and their reaction to it. We all know that story.

Hopefully the makers of this 're-boot' have taken into account the fans from ALL incarnations and will pick the best of each version and weld them into a unique and satisfying new movie interpretation. To be successful they absolutely MUST maintain the core ideology behind the characters of both Banner AND the Hulk; their 'soul,' if you will. Also, they must get the Abomination character right, and not flonk his appearance up, the way Green Goblin was physically misinterpreted.

Based on previous CB movie experiences, I have as much negative energy as positive regarding this film at this point. But so far, each tidbit, no matter how small, I have found positively encouraging rather than making me feel like backsliding towards despair. Thankfully, I'm getting the same good vibes from both Iron Man and Dark Knight, too.

For Hulk fans of every incarnation - June 13th will make them really happy... or really disappointed. I honest-to-God hope that doesn't happen. He's my favorite comics character and deserves a truly great film of his own. I am hoping that the passion & talent behind and in front of the camera for this second go round will help insure that success.

DH, that post was

I agree. I am very cautious at this point and for all intents and purposes, when I knew a new Hulk film was coming, my first instinct was they were going to have some sort of knee jerk reaction to the way Ang's movie was received, swing the pendulem too far the other direction and it was going to negatively impact the movie...but so far, what little information we have gotten has done nothing but bolster my confidence for this project.

Eh? Hulk is refernced in almost every media there is. The amount of times the names, hulk, banner, hell even bill bixby has been used as a reference to pop culture is surprisingly high. Such medias include films, tv shows and music, especially rap music, which have nothing to do with the hulk or comics but name drop anyway, simply because the hulk, contrary to what you think is, in actual fact a very popular (well known and easily identifiable) character.

The TV show was a classic, it just fell off when they started making those tv movies. Those were just Lame.

The stories and the acting within the movie were fine, it was just Ferrigno running around in that god aweful wig and green flip flops that killed it.

The attempts at Daredevil and Thor didn't help either.

I never understood why the makeup guy(s) went from a dark green wig to a consistently lighter wig with each passing season. And absolutely, those gawd-awful yam-colored mullets in the TV movies really stunk to high heaven. If Banner has dark hair in contrast to his skin, then the Hulk 's hair should have been similarly darker (green). Besides which, the shorter the wig, the smaller Lou's head would look, making his body seem even larger. Big, light-colored wigs gave the exact opposite effect. Dolts.

The "re-imagined" Thor was good for some laughs, but he was no Marvel God of Thunder.

I actually thought that Daredevil was well transposed - with the exception of the dimestore ninja outfit (Ack!) With the right duds, he would've come off 100 times better. They actually stuck close to the origin, and Rex Smith played it pretty straight. Just couldn't choke down that fagmo 'gimp' costume. *SIGH*

nope. zero, nada, zip, bupkis. really getting annoying hey sk?

I got bored and came up with this :)

That always bothered me too. The wig looked pretty good by 2nd season, but then in following seasons and ultimately on the movies, it began to resemble a bright green, mangled bird's nest.

isn't that the same poster we've seen?

No this is different.

This is going to be the teaser poster and has changes to the one seen at the New York licensing show.

The logo is different, Hulk's pants are more ripped and Hulk is walking towards you not standing still.

In terms of popularity, fame, and the order in which the names would be listed by joe public, I think it would be more like this-

Spider-Man, Superman, Batman,

then maybe Wolverine, Hulk.
Wonder Woman is nowhere near as famous or well known as Wolvie or Hulk.

Also I think after the films Spider-Man is by far the most popular and famous overall today.

I think you may be underestimating how important Wonder Woman is to "josephine public". If you polled the general public, at least half of those are going to be women, and along with Bats and Supes, she has been an icon for almost 3/4 of a century so she crosses all age boundaries. Hell, my grandma knows who Wonder Woman is, but I bet you she couldn't name another female superhero....and I guarantee she doesn't know who Wolverine is.
