The Amazing Spider-Man The Influence of Ultimate Spider-Man on the Reboot

He's a smartass still. He's characterized pretty well. I have some Ultimate comics, I haven't read them in a while. The ones I have are good. But from the stuff I heard from US I hope they don't use too much. They can still use some elements from it, but not much.

I don't mind USM's high school and teen stuff, just stay away from the Ultimatized villains. Most have simply been horrible. Even Doc Ock, who started out great, ended as a 2nd rate Magneto.

I think they should use the Ultimate Spider-Man Comics somewhat, like how everything was updated to present day.
Like how Peter is a modern student living in modern day New York, or how everything used to be radiation and now its genetics. So I wouldn't mind those updates, having Peter have a cell phone. Having the Bugle have a website, digital camera. Having Peter bitten by a genetically altered spider, having Scorpion undergo gene splicing and genetic experiments. Stuff like that, but that's all.
I wouldn't change the basics of the characters, Green Goblin should still be a guy who wears a costume. Scorpion should still be a guy turned into a better version of Spider-man by Jameson. Electro should still be a guy who is electric. Some updates the ultimate comic made I can live with, like Doc Ock being altered somewhat genetically so that he can take a punch from Spider-man and not get splattered. I also like the idea of Kraven being the host of a Wild Animal Hunter show (not married to it though).
But I wouldn't make changes which would alter the characters too much, like I wouldn't turn the Goblin into a monster. All the characters should be updated, to fit with whats going on in the world, not changed just to make them Ultimate or different.

I love the idea of the reboot following Ultimate Spider-man but at the same time I would want some changes. Mary Jane for example. I love that she was a party girl, a bit selfish and always trying to convince people she was more shallow than she actually was. I don't really want to see her become a geek.

Also the origin. I don't know how they're going to cover that because I just can't sit through another movie about Uncle Ben getting killed etc

Definitely use the USM origin of Venom when the time comes.

I like the Ozcorp origin as well.

The Ultimate Goblins and Ultimate Shocker sucks,so I'm scared about that unless they change those things.

"Bendis is the greatest writer since Stan Lee"

Uhhuh, better than Gerry Conway or Roger Stern?

Ugh.

Everything Ultimate Ive read, in a desperate attempt, simply because I miss reading comics, has completely sucked.

Dude, Roger Stern sucked. What the heck are you smoking?

As long as they let Bendis fix the script, I couldn't care less about what they base it off of. Bendis writes Spider-Man so perfectly. I remember reading something from him when he was shown the script for the first Spider-Man film by Laura Ziskin and he said something about adding a line that had Spider-Man making fun of the Goblin's costume. Ziskin got upset and said "do you know how much money we spent on that costume?" And then Bendis said something like "well that's what he'd say."

That's why he's perfect to fix this script. Whether he writes it from scratch or just touches it up, he would make it perfect. Ever wonder why Iron Man's script was so amazing and witty? They let Bendis and Millar go at it. Don't believe me? It's on imdb.com

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371746/trivia

Comic book writers Mark Millar, Brian Bendis, Joe Quesada, Tom Brevoort, Axel Alonzo and Ralph Macchio were commissioned by Jon Favreau to give advice on the script.

A real comic book writer or Raimi and his brother? Hmmm...:whatever:

Heck no. Ultimate Spider-Man is enjoyable but it is in no way the definitive version. None of the Ultimate titles are.

Plus it had the absolute worst version of Kraven. :cmad:

ARE YOU KIDDING!!!??? Worse than the Disney Kraven in Spectacular Spider-Man played by Simba?

He was cool until they had him turn into a Disney cartoon character.

The second season of Spectacular sucked as a whole. Mysterio was equally as terrible. The mech bats were pulled right out of a Disney cartoon show. It was awful. The only parts I remember enjoying was the return of Venom and the very last episode when they fixed the fact we all thought Harry was the Green Goblin.

There are few things I hate more than Ultimate Marvel. Stick with the classic (real) edition of Spidey.

Well the "real" Spider-Man isn't even the "real" Spider-Man anymore. So whatever.

I for one agree with everybody on this thread that agree that they should use the bits & pieces from ultimate spider man. I'm a big ultimate fan and i love the ultimate universe. Actually i think this would be a great idea because webb and Bendis can put all of the things that Raimi missed in the film. I would like to see more actions scene and better and improved villains. I'm 1000% up on the mechanical web shooters and a major thing they could add that the last 3 spidey movies lack... Wisecracks and alot of jokes. That i would love. I just hope whoever plays him won't be to skinny or small because most villain just ask "what are you 12"? that could be one downside to it.

NOt happy about the rumour of these movies going the Ultimate route.

My joy overshadows your discontent with the light of a thousand suns.

The high school route would not work out, if they were trying to go the Batman direction.

You lost me with this opinion. Bendis is a very give or take writer. Sometime's he greatness. Other times he's just the worst writer at Marvel currently.

You lost me at ...Sometimes he greatness?

Bendis is one of the main reasons I stopped reading Marvel comics.

Don't expect better action scenes than the earlier movies. Raimi had already proven he could direct action before spiderman....Webb...I don't think so. PLUS...he's working with only a fraction of the budget Raimi used. There's no way it will have the same scope.

lol, Kraven looked the best in the 1994 Spidy series.

Ah I loved the second season. What about the episodes with the gang war between Tombstone, Silvermane, and Doc Ock? Those three episodes, with everyone from Silver Sable to Roderick Kingsley to Rhino, were the best of the series, in my opinion.

I'm sure the action will be fine. Need I remind everyone that Peter Jackson directed one of film's greatest action adventure trilogies after directing The Frighteners?

Plus, the reason the budget is smaller is because the studio isn't paying for big names like Raimi, Maguire, Dunst, Dafoe, Molina, Church, or Franco. With every sequel, returning members went up.

But.. Jackson also did a number of movies including the insane zombie movie Dead alive. Plus frighteners had a lot of special effects and action. So it wasn't that big of a jump. He had the experience already.

Webb did a romantic comedy...

Does anyone remember the last time they did something like this with other comic franchises. Daredevil? Fantastic Four? all were directors who did light family fare and just couldn't handle the big scope movie.

You obviously have never seen the director's cut of Daredevil
