I called the Greg W and he approves this post!

I liked how Tombstone was dressed in a suit, not like he was about to raid some tombs in the '90s STAS.

When I saw aunt May introduce herself to Betty at the bugle I was like "OH SNAP! Peter, get to the Bugle, NOW!" She was dead-set on Peter going to the formal with MJ. Woman is evil and I love her for it. :woot:

That's what Batman TAS did, turned a bunch of D-Listers into A-Listers (Mr.Freeze, Clayface, Clock King, etc).

Spidey TAS, while not turning D-Listers into A-Listers (because he already had enough A-Listers) did at least show us the kind of threat Electro could be if re-conceptualized ALA Mr.Freeze and gave us a more streamlined Venom origin. And a better reason for Norman to become the Green Goblin.

As for Raimi, I still think SM1 and SM2 were true Spidey-stories. SM3 suffered from too much studio interference.

Alright,

This is probably the best spiderman episode ever produced.

That is all. It covered way way way way way too many of the criteria to what makes spidey great.

way way way too many.

They can't possibly top this ep....

**** the 90s show. This is the real deal.

oh and **** you raimi for wasting our time with three movies, you should be ****ing ashamed of yourself. You've been completely outclassed in the space of 23 minutes.

You know, i've gotta say, i agree with pretty much everything this dude said.

I love the films and am a HUGE HUGE fan of the comics but this show is bloody amazing and personally i think Raimi could learn a thing or two from it.

Well, later on in the comics her being set on Peter and MJ together did make more sense once we got that "MJ's party girl persona was all an act" bit, and we saw how her life had been as rough and full of heart-break as Peter's. THAT was why she was set on them together.

Though I do wonder why she didn't try to convince Peter that maybe Gwen would be a good idea, what's she got against her?

So true. Plus MJ admired Peter's sense of responsibility. Heck, it was one of the main things that drew her to him.

Now that you mention it, it is interesting she wouldn't try to set him up with Gwen. But as the old saying goes "Aunt May knows best."

Agreed, however, Sam Raimi really doesn't need to learn anything. He has created three amazing films so far.

I think he does, starting with moving past the classic villains. The third film was atrocious, and just because the second one was a good sequel does not mean it's nearly as good as some claim it to be.

I think this show and the movies are great.

I loved Spiderman 3. Yeah, I said it.

"Die, my dear? why, that'll be the last thing I do!"

QFT.

Agreed, he looks professional.
The suit he's wearing in this show is identical to the one he wore in his early appearances.

I don't know much about Tombstone... when he fights spidey one on one there he pretty much kicked spidey's ass easily... does this always happen in the comics?? I didn't know Tombstone was faster and a better fighter than spidey

SM3 suffered from too much dancing.

It suffered from too much of everything except something interesting.

Originally, he was a normal human but he was really built (he was like 7'6" I think). He was really strong, but not super-human. Recently, he's been given powers (super strength, speed, agility, etc.). I don't know if the Tombstone we saw in the show was superpowered or not.

Yeah, I saw that cover last night and was surprised that they used the exact same suit for in the the show. Bravo!

I just finished watching this ep again. Everything about it is brilliant. Peter deserved MJ standing in front of him at the door after the day he's had.

Well to be fair that ending is taken right out of ASM #42 (or 43, I forget) and they did a similar premise in TAS where he got his ass kicked for two episodes and rips his costume but then finds MJ at the door.

As for the episode, very good. I guess Tombstone will be to this series what Kingpin was to TAS (including Norman Osborn becoming his unwilling pawn). It was good to see the whole episode unfold and I really liked the rhino in this.

My only real gripe so far is that Norman Osborn is too one-note and emotionless and they just completely ruined Doc Ock. But even so, the show just flows right and this was a good episode showing classic Spidey balance, something BND has failed miserably to capture even after ending the marriage.

At this rate it could very easily surpass TAS and it already has in terms of action quality and animation. I still think the face and character designs in TAS were overall better as was the voice acting (most notably Barnes as Spidey and their Doc Ock), but this show is very good. MUCH BETTER than the MTV show.

As for movie talk, I enjoyed all three but SM3 was easily the weakest and had flaws, but it was overall very entertaining and told the main story between Peter and Harry and MJ for the most part well. Fans just like to focus on the negatives to the point ad nasaeum.

I think that MTV not being allowed to use any of the classic villains was a main bad point. But aside from that I liked it, and I think if it lasted longer it would've been better received.

If you mean the shy, sympathetic Otto, he's not Doc Ock yet. He becomes Ock due to a sabotaged experiment in episode 8, Reaction. He'll be that tentacled badass we all know and love.
