I think the success of IM will definitely help THOR as people will need their Avengers 'fix' after IM3.

I think IM3's success pretty much kills any doubt against a possible "Avengers' boost".

Even Ant Man will benefit a great deal.

300 m is still optimistic at this point.

200 m is very much in play.

That depends on how they will advertise this movie, so far most of my friends who are not comic book readers thinks that Ant-Man is a joke and thinks his powers are silly.

A extended cameo in the trailer with Cap and Thor should fix that right up.

Plus they could show an Ant Man clip at the end of the Avengers 2 which a hundred million movie goers would see.

November is a great release month.

Skyfall came out in November.

The film will probably be at around $400m OS by next Sunday, and with a $170m OW domestically there's a good chance the film could be at $600m by next weekend. Crazy. This is literally the best case scenario the film could have had. I though $800m was the realistic gross given Avengers' effect, but like Avengers last year, the film has just went above and beyond realistic expectations and into the realm of fantasy land.

Anyone else wonder if Marvel releasing it in this manner wasn't the best idea in terms of domestic take? Why couldn't they do like Fox did with X2 and release it the same day worldwide?

I visit general movie sites (RT, IMDB, etc) and all this early international release did was give the haters and trolls a leg up to try and control word of mouth. Look at IMDB for example. For whatever reason, haters that want Iron Man and Marvel to fail are over there leaving the worst reviews and starting the most spoiler filled negative threads possible. They have voted up the bad reviews left by members in huge numbers. Since no one in America has seen it, real fans and some general movie fans are avoiding those sites. No one is there to counter and, at general glance, it appears everyone hates the film. Will general audience members on the fence be swayed by such things?

This can't be good for word of mouth even though it's a false negative. IM3 may be above it because of the love for past movies but considering the spoilerish nature of the film, did Marvel get too cocky and make a huge error waiting to release it in the states???

Yeah nobody cares what the internet thinks.

Groan. That is a mistake, you want to strike while the iron (no pun intended t is hot so the general audience go to see Thor not only on the back of Avengers but on the back of IM. That said the Blu ray/DVD of IM3 will be out in Nov and everyone who buys will see a trailer of Thor that auto plays when the disk is inserted.
