And why isn't it followed today? It's part of the bible. It's commanded to be done. Lev bans a huge amount of things from being eaten, so why isn't it enforced like other parts?
How many people are divorced? 'Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her; and if she herself divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.'"
Tattoos? Leviticus 19:28 "You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the Lord."
This is not the atheist thread nor the Debate thread.![]()
Wow.
I'm a bit baffled to see a Christian make that statement. I really hope you don't tell homosexuals/lesbians that God thinks it's okay to be that way. Please read your Bible or ask your pastor what the Bible says about this subject.
Harvest, why do you come off as so damn stuck up? All the dude (or girl, my bad...) said was his opinion. Then you have to reply in this "holier than thou" tone and question his belief. You pulled this same s*** on me a month ago.
I understand that people disagree. That's human nature. But there are better ways to do it than how you do it. Jesus would never do what you do which means that you fail as a witness. Damn.

I'm going to be honest with you Warhammer. Your and my opinion doesn't have much weight when it comes to the Bible. If you don't think that someone who claims to be Christian and promotes homosexuality is suspect than I don't think that there is much we can agree on.
Yeah, you fail as being a good witness. Who responds positively to condescension? There's a way to say everything you posted in a different way. And leave it at that. Stop questioning someone's belief. Stop using the words "think" or "claim." You are nobody. Do you think that Jesus gathered a following and Christianity became what it is today due to condescension?I've noticed that you to have this very "cool" and "relaxed view" about the Bible (I think you know which conversation I'm talking about). If I make a false statement and do so in the name of Christianity and you don't correct me than you're really not helping me. According to you Jesus never rebuked those that preached false Gospel or made false statements about the scriptures ? So the bible does not serve to correct when we fall astray ? Are you sure about that statement? I fail as a Witness? Please define what a witness is and how I failed.
I was just questioning why certain parts are taken at face value and ever so important when there were a number of others right beside them that are supposed to be equal but are totally ignored since they'd interfere with how someone wants to live.
After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, "Hear and understand. "It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." Then the disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?"
Irrelevant. I never agreed nor disagreed with squeakness. What I did do was call you out on how you responded to his post. Don't deviate.

Why is this a hard concept for you to grasp? I honestly think that you act how you act because you are behind a keyboard typing away. You would never have the gall to act this way in person.

To get right to the heart of it, the rules for behavior in Leviticus were the old covenant between God and the people of Israel. When Jesus came there was a new covenant forged between the Lord and people who accept Christ as their savior that superseded the old covenant. Jesus taught that what believers eat, with whom they associate, what they wear, etc., are all irrelevant to the state of their souls. As stated in Matthew, what goes into one's mouth cannot/does not defile them, but what comes out (words, beliefs) will. In other words, if one is faithless, blasphemes or curses God, that will mark them as a sinner, but eating certain foods, etc., will not.
Every Christian should know this, that those old laws are not binding upon believers in Christ. Those who aren't Christians (or haven't studied theology) are often honestly confused because they think the laws of Leviticus are binding upon Christians when in fact they never have been. (I am not speaking of the Ten Commandments here, of course.)

Is the part I bolded a threat? If so you're really exposing yourself.
There are Biblical thruths that are plain and simply laid out all over the Bible we should not even be arguing about them. Homosexuality is one of them, there is really no excuse. I have every right to question someone's believe (and so do you) especially when there "opinion" does not adhere with the Bible. More so on an internet forum. You seem to have an issue with rebuking and correcting. It's part of our Christian live. There are many examples of this in the Bible. I have been corrected many times during my walk with Christ and I am glad I was. It helped me avoid several errors when dealing with the Bible.
The word "Christian" is thrown around so many times in our current society that many don't even know what it really implies.
You've been unable to define what a witness refers to in your phrase.
I do have to admit there are a number of folks that seem to hold a "relaxed" view of Christianity around here.I don't quite get how some can defend sexual sin (ANY sexual sin) as not a "big deal" in the Bible.I mean, none of us are perfect, but we should strive to do better than the average "non-believer".
Whoa, we're above veiled shots. Just man up and call me out.
No. How old are you?
No, I'm not going to sit there and question someone's belief because it differs from my own. I can supply verses. I can say that I disagree. I cannot say that they aren't really a Christian. And no, my issue is not with rebuking and correcting. I have an issue with the condescension. Did you not read? What is your malfunction? This is a trollish level of misunderstanding.
Many of them do. It doesn't need to fit your qualifications. It needs to fit God's.
1 Peter 3:15
Look it up.
Really, to you questioning someone's courage is a common way of communicating? So when someone tells you that "you wouldn't dare to say that to my face" it's suppose to be taken with humor?
You forgot "with meekness and fear." Synonyms for those words are gentleness and respect if you didn't already know.1 peter 3:15
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
It refers to preaching the Gospel or more specific Jesus-Christ.
But you know it doesn't work that way. We're human. We differ in opinions among other things by nature. Being Christian doesn't supersede that. That's why Jesus had to die. And I agree with your last sentence. That's truth. The issue with your statement is that you're talking about someone that presents him or herself as a Christian . So your believes should not differ.
If he confesses that Jesus Christ is God come in the flesh than he indeed is saved.
That's rather dismissive but whatever floats your boat. You don't even know me. I hope one day, your fellowship isn't limited only to people who share your opinion of Christianity. It's enlightening. But I can't determine that on an internet forum the only prove I have are your statements. I don't know you personally but one thing I can assume going by your statements and views on the Christian live is that we would never fellowship.
