Jim Carrey said no?
It is mentioned in the article on the previous page
Jim Carrey said no?
I did not see the previous page. Script must suck.
I did not see the previous page. Script must suck.
With movies like The numbers 23 and even an underperforming comedic movie like Yes Man , i wouldn't go so far to say that Carrey knows a good script/bad script when he sees one.
....I liked the Number 23....
I'm calling BS. You got it from wikipedia, for crying out loud! Anyone can change wikipedia.
Finally, producer Denise Di Novi (Edward Scissorhands) talked about her long-in-development adaptations of The Jetsons and Ray Bradburys The Illustrated Man. On The Illustrated Man, which has Zack Snyder still attached to direct:
I was the only person who was sad when he decided to do Superman. [Snyder] reminds me of [Tim Burton] in a lot in that hes such an auteur, and he just gives a hundred percent to what hes working on. But thats one of my favorites; Im a huge Bradbury fan, and were waiting for him.As for The Jetsons:
Ive been developing that for so many years. We actually just turned a new draft in of that script last week to the studio, so Im still trying to make it. I still think it would be a hit movie. [Robert Rodriguez] was attached to it and his version was fantastic, but it wasnt a mainstream studio picture. It was kind of his version of what he would shoot at his studio in Texas. Hes got a great set-up down there, and I think part of it is that it may be fun to play with all those big toys at his studio, but he has a pretty good system going. She elaborated that the problem in adapting The Jetsons is that the climate keeps changing:
Part of it is that every couple of years, the genre kind of changes. I really credit Jeff Robinov at Warner Bros. with this. In choosing Christopher Nolan to do Batman, he really exploded the expectations on adapting all these kinds of titles. The pressure is on to really make them the coolest movies, and not the cornball cartoon movies. Every couple years its changed what they thought the movie should be and Im hoping now were hitting it at the right time. Ive never given up on that movie.
DeVito is sooooooo Spacely. Not really a fan of Carrell's so I'm meh there.
I don't really see this happening, but would be interested if it did.
Kanye West May Be the Creative Director of THE JETSONS Movie Because Why Not [UPDATE]
by Matt Goldberg Posted:January 5th, 2012 at 9:52 am
Kayne West is a Renaissance man who makes great music when hes not sticking his foot in his mouth. His ego seems to know no bounds but theres talent to back it up, so he becomes a figure of fun at best and an eye-rolling irritant at worst. After a three-hour Twitter marathon where he managed to talk only about himself, he briefly mentioned, I was just discussing becoming the creative director for the Jetson [sic] movie and After your brain takes the half-minute to process that strange revelation, it almost begins to make sense.![]()
Hit the jump for more on this semi-madness. [We've updated the story after the jump]
Heres the full tweet-stream regarding Wests possible involvement in a Jetsons movie:
I was just discussing becoming the creative director for the Jetson movie and someone on the call yelled out.. you should do a Jetsons tour!Real ideas: robot teddy bears. Again, a Jetsons movie with Kanye Wests involvement makes some sort of bizarre, twisted sense.
This just happened a few hours ago. I was very insulted of course becuase for anyone thats seen the Watch the Throne Tour
Or Coachella or Glow in the Dark or Runaway.. you know I have real ideas
You may recall Robert Rodridguez had been attached to an adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon about life in 2062 (fifty years from now, well all have flying cars and housekeeping robots, but well still carry cash in wallets). Last summer, producer Denise Di Novi provided this update:
Ive been developing that for so many years. We actually just turned a new draft in of that script last week to the studio, so Im still trying to make it. I still think it would be a hit movie. [Robert Rodriguez] was attached to it and his version was fantastic, but it wasnt a mainstream studio picture. It was kind of his version of what he would shoot at his studio in Texas. Hes got a great set-up down there, and I think part of it is that it may be fun to play with all those big toys at his studio, but he has a pretty good system going. That system makes Spy Kids 4.
Back to West, Jetsons seems one of many potential projects he wants to do. Heres a list of the others [via Movieline]
· Designing more NIKE sneakers, because only one pair of Kanye West shoes every two years isnt enoughThe Kanye West School for Children Who Cant Tweet Grammer Good.
· Starting a new company called DONDA (named after mom) which will galvanize amazing thinkers and put them in a creative space to bounce there dreams and ideas to help simplify and aesthetically improve everything we see hear, touch, taste and feel.
· Creating a new 7 screen experience
· Making something called 2016 OLYMPICs Its a semi sic-fi since 2016 is only 4 years away
· Designing the MTV Awards
· Changing the education system to omit higher math courses for kids wholl never need it as adults (Thats what I was saying in fifth grade!)
· Starting an alternative summer school with filmmaker Spike Jonze (Spike Jonze and I want to do a Summer school that tries new forms of cuuriculim)
MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Update: Di Novi confirms West wasnt just making word salad. She tells MTV:
We heard that he knew we were working on the Jetsons, Di Novi said. He reached out and said hes a huge Jetsons fan. There are a lot of Jetsons fanatics out there, especially people that are into either futuristic science or design. He was interested in creatively brainstorming what we were doing with the movie and what ideas he might have. It was a really friendly, preliminary conversation.
Van Robichaux and Evan Susser Tapped to Rewrite THE JETSONS
by Adam Chitwood Posted:February 7th, 2012 at 6:13 pm
The live-action feature film adaptation of The Jetsons has been lingering in development for over a decade now, and a couple of writers have just been tapped to perform a new rewrite. Variety reports that Van Robichaux and Evan Susser are now set to pen a new draft of the script. The writing duo are behind the Star Wars-themed Black List script Chewie. Last summer, producer Denise Di Novi talked about why The Jetsons feature has been so tough to crack:![]()
“Part of it is that every couple of years, the genre kind of changes. I really credit Jeff Robinov at Warner Bros. with this. In choosing Christopher Nolan to do Batman, he really exploded the expectations on adapting all these kinds of titles. The pressure is on to really make them the coolest movies, and not the cornball cartoon movies. Every couple years it’s changed what they thought the movie should be and I’m hoping now we’re hitting it at the right time. I’ve never given up on that movie.”Robert Rodriguez was previously attached to direct, but he’s no longer involved. I’m incredibly excited about the prospect of a live-action Jetsons feature, but I also understand that it’s a super hard tone to nail down. Hopefully Robinchaux and Susser have a strong vision for the pic.
