"The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached?

The only thing that would effectively kill my interest in this film is if it deals exclusively with a pre-chemical bath Joker.

I'm not dismissing this one until I watch the trailer. The idea is bad, but who knows.

it is, but the alleged talent behind it is legit. I'm willing to give it a shot at this point. Just drop some good DC movies. Please.

If this genuinely starts shooting in May with Scorsese and Phoenix then I'm not just giving it a chance, I'm damn excited!

The news on Joaquin said he was in talks for the role. Hopefully he turned it down and they choose Tommy.

Nah, it's Todd Philips... we're getting Bradley Cooper!

Joaquin Phoenix Doesn’t Seem To Know Anything About That Joker Movie He’s Supposed To Star In

Allocine attempted to ask Phoenix about the Joker movie, and he seemed puzzled as heck that it even existed. “What movie about the Joker?” he asked, and as the interviewer probed further, Phoenix simply said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Has Warner Bros not given Phillips the okay to approach Phoenix? Perhaps this was an interview that was truly lost in translation? Or perhaps Phoenix is truly giving the performance of a lifetime in playing dumb. Given how chaotic DC Films seems to be, I’d wager Phoenix’s casting is still being worked out among suits, before they formally present the project to him. But that’s just my guess.

What was it? My first time seeing this. It looks like he's saying "Do I have to go on?" :funny:
He won Best Actor at Cannes but he didn't realize it because of the language barrier.

Charles Roven briefly mentioning Joker:

“Warner Brothers has been – even before “Wonder Woman” came out – developing standalone characters, like they did with the Joker and Scorsese: they've got a project, and they've got a number of projects with a Batman standalone, and things like that, and each one of them has different directors. So it doesn't necessarily mean that there's going to be a commonality of creative synchronicity in what each one of those directors are doing.”

“The great thing about that is that that means there will be a constant freshness,” Roven stressed, nodding to the diversity of DC superheroes who can now step into their own solo ventures.

So, is he confirming Scorsese will produce the film, or just that they've had talks?

When his quotes are written out, Roven sounds like he has severe ADHD.

Well, for all the people who hated Joker having a background in B89, will probably be upset about him being a failed comedian in this.
