"The Korova Milk Bar" or the Stanley Kubrick thread.

Plus Spielberg came under fire about the choices of the film when in fact, Kubrick had those same choices in his writings of the film.

Exactly. I haven't read up enough on the project, but seems that Speilberg improved upon a few aspects of Kubrick's script.

Not to mention Kubrick actually let him direct the film and told him it fits his style more. But I wonder what would happen if he was still alive. He probably would have made one film last decade.

Speaking of Spielberg, the **** has he been up to? I've heard no news about Lincoln, Interstellar, or that pirate movie he wants to make.

**** STEVEN GET IT TOGETHER

Well, he finished Tin Tin a while back so I guess he's gonna choose his next project. But you know Spielberg, the man is interested or buys so many things to movies, but he never gets around to doing most of them. I still want that Lincoln film. Plus another pirate movie from Spielberg is awesome (Hook was great) but a more serious one could be badass.

Bump.

For people who live in LA, there is a great Kubrick exhibit at LACMA until June, I think.
I went a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty awesome to see the actual props from his movies and other memorabilia.
I particularly loved seeing some of the costumes from "Barry Lyndon", a personal favorite of mine.

And you too. You reminded me of Kubrick's abandoned Napoleon project in the other thread. Damn, I would have killed to see that.

Wanted to go ahead and give this thread a bump.

As both a member of the Hype and avid, longtime admirer of Kubrick, I felt inclined to share the progress I've made on this little passion project of mine I've been working on for the past two years.

I've been collecting signatures from actors who've appeared in Stanley's films in a hobby I've called "The Stanley Kubrick Alumni Project" as a celebration of his work and my own personal fandom, where they sign the cover of my copy of Taschen's coffee table book, "The Stanley Kubrick Archives."

Through a combination of convention appearances and a campaign I started last summer by handwriting and mailing letters around the world to over 40 actors and actresses to subsequently have the book mailed to them, I have six signatures to date with more participants lined up and ready to sign.

Currently, I'm making preparations to have the book journey to England this summer to be signed by Murray Melvin, who portrayed Reverend Samuel Runt in "Barry Lyndon."

Here's the book as it is now. The signatures I have, in order, include:

Adam Baldwin - Animal Mother from "Full Metal Jacket" (1987)
Ryan O'Neal - Redmond Barry/Barry Lyndon from "Barry Lyndon" (1975)
James Earl Jones - Lt. Lothar Zogg from "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" (1964)
Malcolm McDowell - Alexander DeLarge from "A Clockwork Orange" (1971)
Lisa Burns and Louise Burns - The Grady Twins from "The Shining" (1980)

Impressive! That is so awesome. I hope you get as many signatures as possible. You already have a number of important ones.

That is amazing! Congrats, man, I also hope you get as many signatures as possible and please keep us posted:up: Barry Lyndon and Alex DeLarge, just wow!

Speaking of Barry Lyndon (one of my favorite Kubrick films), just found this great pic.

I think I might be ready for a marathon this weekend - what do you guys think?

Go for it, maybe start with The Killing if you can:yay: Fear and Desire is not very good, Killer's Kiss is good Noir but it feels that it is with The Killing that Kubrick really started to find his voice. And don't forget Barry Lyndon(a bit of a marathon in itself lol, but well worth it.)

A marathon of his filmography sounds like a terrific idea.

Personally, the only one that feels like any sort of chore or endurance test to watch is "Spartacus," which I think has to do with the fact that even with Stanley at the helm, it doesn't quite feel like a Kubrick film given his having to answer to Kirk Douglas and that out of all his films, it was the one where he wasn't in full control of what the final result was going to be.

Plus that's a three hour film as well.

The difference being I'm more prone to sit through three hours of Kubrick ("Barry Lyndon") as opposed to three hours that don't inherently feel like he had control.

I agree.

This is a great little time capsule of a post.

Prints of that painting come with the "Kubrick: Masterpiece Collection" BluRay set. Christiane is a wonderful artist in her own right!
