The Last of Us The Last Of Us 2

I rarely caught what change wasdone to the weapons (looks wise) but when I looked closely when Ellie and Abby were upgrading, it was pretty cool.

I'd be so in for figures but they have never materialized. I know Neca were at least interested once, guessing someone at Sony/Naughty Dog doesn't want them made.

Weird how they'd allow statues but not Neca figures since they're more or less the same thing. Sure, Neca figures have articulation but they've always been more geared towards collectors meant to be displayed and not played with. It's probably a Naughty Dog thing since there have been Neca figures based on previous Sony games like Uncharted and God of War, even though Uncharted is also Naughty Dog it's still a much lighter game. It could also have to do with the fact that most of the characters in Part II besides Ellie and Joel are modeled after real people (not just their voice actors; Dina being one example), so it could be a licensing thing.

Yeah it's quite weird. There was basically no merch for the first game. I assumed it was some kind of pretentious 'this is above figures' mentality, but there were things like pops and statues released with TLOU2 so I'm not so sure now. Could be a likeness thing as you mentioned. I thought someone would do them if they could, there's a number of unofficial ones released or in the works.

Funny enough I had planned to give 2/3ish if the game a replay this month. Meant to start earlier in the week but then something I had my eye on dropped in price and I got caught up in that for a few days. Seems I picked a fitting night to start it up though.

about a politically controversial subject...

I saw this video that was calling the game "far-leftist propaganda" because it has a trans-character. The reason being that "why would there be a trans-person in the apocalypse when everyone should be preoccupied with the apocalypse". I don't quite understand this. Was it ever stated that the character Lev was taking hormone therapy? It's not like the mere existence of a trans person is somehow impossible if people still exist. Maybe getting hormone treatment would be impossible but again I'm not sure if Lev actually ever took hormone therapy.

any takes? I think the person is totally reaching and not thinking logically

It's a stretch to think post-apocalypse means certain types of people stop existing. This person is living under the assumption that no one has the time to decide to be different than their narrow view of post-apocalyptic survivor.

Lev probably is not taking any kind of hormone treatment but that doesn't mean Lev is not a boy. It means Lev is living pre-hormone treatment transgender, something that others had to live with for centuries. And quite a number do now, thanks to political machinations and religious bigotry.

Tying their transgender status to having hormone treatment (or even surgery) is regressive and harmful to whoever is transgender but unable to take those treatments. There is a movement in the United States to deny children that treatment but it does not change who they are. Going any further would veer too far into angry political ranting so I'll leave it at that.

Anyone who labels any videogame as far-leftist propaganda, probably shouldn't be taken seriously.

Does TLOU multiplayer really have that big of a following?

I can't imagine it's as high as the appeal of their main single player releases since Uncharted 2.

It depends how good it is. I personally thought the gameplay was good in the second game. So if its like that + amazing visuals, it should be successful. Sony said that they aim to feature stoŕy telling for their multiplayer games, so I'm curious if thats going to happen.

Though I wish they are already working for the sequel. I also hope the new sci fi ip is true.

I assume that they'll be releasing it as close as possible to the premiere of the HBO series much like how the Uncharted 4 & Lost Legacy PS5 remaster came out just before the Uncharted movie.

I'm skeptical but curious about this remake. With a game I very much enjoyed which hasn't even aged that much, it's hard to imagine many things worth improving. I wouldn't mess with something so beloved, it seems you're more likely to make unpopular choices than necessary ones. A graphical bump can't hurt but isn't that exciting either.

I'm guessing it's improved graphics using the TLOU2 flashback character models for Joel and Ellie as well as implementing the TLOU2 gameplay mechanics. What would be cool is if they also were to insert the Left Behind DLC into the main game but I'm not expecting that.

What I'm curious about is that since it's technically a remake and not an upgrade, will anyone who already owns TLOU Remastered on PS4 be able to get the game at a lower price?

Doubtful. And unless they really improve on it somehow, I doubt a lot of people will want to play a remake of a game that came out less than a decade ago. This isn't a Spider-Man movie.

Honestly at this point, I'm assuming it has to be a new engine remake... Otherwise why would this need to be so much development time for what could amount to a Next-Gen upgrade for the already remastered version?

I literally only played the remaster for PS4 last year and it was my first ever play through, the game didn't feel dated at all.

See, I'm already a bit nervous just about that. I thought Ellie looked off in the TLOU2 opening. She looked fine in the museum and onward though.

It's not. The sequel didn't even add a tremendous amount of new features, so it's not like there is something from that I'm itching to see either tbh.
