Horror 'The Last of Us' HBO Series

I think there is a way to kind of meet halfway in the middle, and still maintain the intent and integrity of the narrative of Part II’s story.

Maybe intersperse all of the Abby flashbacks post her father’s death throughout the season, showing relatively happier times, ala Lost. Still have flashbacks intro each episode, just like what they’re doing with this season, and have the present day stuff split the focus between Abby and Ellie. Hold off on that flashback until the very end of the last episode of the season, just to keep people in suspense about what she’s doing in the present. Then, when you get to the finale, after Joel meets his end, immediately cut to the flashback of Abby finding her father dead, thus giving you context for why she is on her revenge quest. Then, cut back to Abby in present day, after having done the deed, leaving with her group. Last scene is of Ellie weeping over a bloodied, beaten, dead Joel. Somber music. Cut to credits. End season.

You still get quite a bit of info on Abby, her relationships, her personality, etc., but still keep the big reveal until the very end of the season. So, you maintain the gravity and dramatic impact, but a heck of a lot more context. That way, you aren’t left completely wondering who the hell this person is and why you should care about her, but her motives aren’t completely made clear until the finale.
I'd be onboard with this.

Great news on the renewal. I am in Abby’s section on the 2nd game and I honestly think they could make 3 seasons out of the 2nd game.

Cancer will never not suck. May she rest in peace. :csad:

Oh, no. She also had a part (her very first role?) on a Star Trek: Enterprise episode — guest starring along with Rene Auberjonois.

RIP Annie.

She later played the Borg Queen on Picard, didn't she?

I think the problem with Last of Us 2 is that gamers spent the whole first game growing attached to Joel and Ellie. So it's not simple to just subvert that and try to turn the whole story on its head.

They would've been better served doing a whole new game setting up the new character and then make Last of Us 3 about the characters colliding again.

So, apparently, looking at this behind-the-scenes featurette, this was a big departure since Frank was already dead in the games. Again, having never played them, this feels like a change or deviation that works because you can still address Bill's character in the game, but further flesh out his partnership when the games didn't explore that.

All the controversy surrounding Last of Us 2 is so weird to me because it just sounds like a normal, logical way to take the story. More franchises should take big, provocative swings like that.

What a beautiful, romantic, moving episode this was. Absolutely stellar performances all around.

Such an incredible episode of television. They really weren't kidding when they praised it so highly. The deviations from the game worked. Only thing that bums me out about the change is that
Ellie and Bill never got to exchange barbs with each other like in the game since they don't meet in the show. Would have liked to see that but given what we got in its place it's not a big loss at all.

Annie Wersching was spectacular. Loved her on Bosch, The Rookie, 24, and so many shows. Was never happy with what happened to her character on 24. She was an underrated talent.

45 is so young. Feel awful for her family.
Loved her on 24.

What a phenomenal performance from Nick Offerman in this episode and I don't think I've ever seen Murray Bartlett in anything else before but man he really held his own in this as well.

I wasn't expecting such a tragic and romantic episode to come out of this kind of show, but they absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one and gave a lot of depth to the Frank/Bill characters.

The best episode yet IMO.

Nooooooooooooo!!!!!! That f***ing sucks!!! :csad::waa::waa:

Very eerie that this happened only a week after the last episode, too.

Figured this would be added, if not to tonight's episode, then the next one at least.

Good.

What a beautiful and romantic hour of television. This episode definitely lived up to the hype. Touching and kinda comedic in the right places. Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett ( whom I loved since looking) killed it. This series is living up to all the expectations and is without a doubt the greatest video game adaptation ever. Also glad season 2 is confirmed.

I never played the game, but I was familiar with the uproar over it, and it just seemed like a really bad idea. It would work much more on a show (like this one) where the audience is just that, an audience. But doing that in a game where the player actually controls the protagonist, suddenly switching it up and having them be the antagonist just doesn't work.
