'The Last of Us' HBO Series

Seeing how some reacted to the second game, I don't think those fans will be as comforted by "Don't worry, we're listening to the guy who made the games" as much as they usually would.

The Last of Us HBO Series Producer Teases "Jaw Drop" Moment Left Out of the Game

When The Last of Us debuts on HBO, the series will contain a shocking moment that was cut from the original game. Craig Mazin, writer-producer on the series, revealed such in a new interview conducted by the BBC's Must Watch. While Mazin did not go into detail about the cut sequence, he did provide a couple of interesting notes about the upcoming series. Apparently, the show will stay true to the story that fans fell in love with, while bringing in aspects and moments that did not exist in the first game or its recent sequel. Mazin is working closely on the show with Neil Druckmann, so fans should see an experience that still feels authentic.

"Jaw drop - that's going in," Mazin told Must Watch of his own reaction to the cut sequence. "For sure, we have to do that. You couldn't stop me doing that. You will have to shoot me [to stop me] from doing that. And there were a few things like that."

It will be interesting to see if fans will be able to guess the sequence in question, and how they might feel about its inclusion. Fans of The Last of Us have proven to be quite protective of the games, and Mazin and everyone involved with the project will surely have their work cut out for them. Fortunately, it seems that Mazin is dedicated to creating a series that longtime fans and newcomers alike will be able to enjoy.

"If you have played the game, our intention is that you will watch the show and say 'this has violated nothing of what I loved about the game, and what I witnessed in the game, but it has also brought me a whole lot more - things I did not know, really amazing things'," Mazin said to Must Watch.

I just finisted Part 2 after playing the Remastered first one. That is a very good but very hard story to tell. It's bleak but it isn't The Walking Dead bleak and hopefully it won't dwell on that hopelessness because this franchise isn't devoid of it, even if it goes to some very dark places.

Maybe Timothy Olyphant for Joel. I gotta think about it more.

Damn shame Ellen Page is too old now.

And to top it off, potential spoiler here: Ellie is also a lesbian.

If you were going to cast an adult and wanted someone who bore a resemblance, Mackenzie Foy might work, but yeah, to maintain a pre-teen/early teen quality even she's too old. Abby Ryder Fortson?

I watched a film with Nicolaj Coster-Waldau yesterday and thought he'd make a great Joel and then I also thought that it's too perfect of a casting not already to have been confirmed but I guess here we are. :p

Just halfway through the first game now and absolutely loving it, definitely lives up to the hype for me.

Looking forward to this show even more now.

To take with a grain of salt:

Yeah I was gonna ask if the site is reputable. Never heard of it.

Mahershala is my favorite current actor, but I'd go with someone else

A lot of racists want Ali’s head right now on twitter.

This Last Of Us show will end up being the best videogame adaption ever. Mark my words.

I'm sure it will be. Not like it has any tough competition anyway.

Not familiar with the actress but glad they got an actual teenager for Ellie and not an adult playing a teenager.

Considering how ugly TLOU fandom has proven to be this past year, it's borderline irresponsible to mention Ali's name if he's not seriously in the running. This rumour really has directed a s***storm his way.
