Horror 'The Last of Us' HBO Series

I do think seasons 2 and 3 will have to be 10 episodes. I'm just going through some playthrough videos and there's a lot that can be explored especially if they're getting a bigger budget.
I'm fine with that if they are as well written as these have been. :)

Yeah, a lot more to be covered and other things they could go more in depth into for later seasons. Doubt there will be many complaints here at least. :D

This episode was wonderful just like the dlc it was based on. Just the simplicity of the premise two kids in an abandoned mall in the post-apocalypse and add in a little romance and you got something quite special and of course tragic.

I could see them expanding quite a bit on the Seraphites, especially the Prophet. Kind of like what they did with Kathleen and the Hunters this season, only on a much larger scale. They could use that subplot to explore a part of the world that we haven’t really seen yet at this point. Namely, religious cults popping up in the midst of a global pandemic and the dangers religious fanaticism pose to the world in a different way from organizations like FEDRA. Sort of a cautionary tale.

I haven't nor I have interest in playing the game. But does the game have this much swearing? If I'm an angsty teenager perhaps I'll enioy the show more but for me, it's kinda irritating to my ears

I think there are less instances of the f-word in the game in comparison to the show. Ellie has a foul mouth in both but she definitely seems to curse more in the show.

I feel like they have a lot to cover in the next two episodes
While I love their dynamic on the show, I don't quite feel like they've earned the "Joel will let the world die to save Ellie" moment just yet

Supposedly Episode 8 is 51 minutes and the finale is only 43 minutes, the shortest episode of the season.

I feel like they can cover the whole cannibal plot with Ellie captured and Joel torturing the two guys to find out where she is in 51 minutes but 43 minutes doesn't seem like enough time to cover Salt Lake City/the giraffes/the hospital/back to Jackson on top of the added flashbacks of Ellie's mom that we're going to get. But I'll put my faith in the creative team since they haven't failed yet.

Yeah, the alleged runtime for episode 9 has me really concerned about the pacing and the likelihood of it being rushed. Why make it the shortest episode of the season is as of now confusing to me.

In the grand scheme of things towards the end of the game, if you truncate the actual gameplay elements there's not a whole lot of ground to cover. But I still think that 43 minutes seems a bit short.

Hope we get "torture scene" and "I believed him" scene. This show in season 1 needs to give us ruthless Joel so season 2 can run. And Joel's storyline and Abby's character make full sense.

Yeah Joel hasn't been quite as ruthless in the show as he was in the game. They need to step that up the next 2 episodes.

The finale does seem rather short. But my guess they get to Salt Lake City at the end of the next episode.

The Hollywood Reporter's Season 1 review mentioned the next two episodes being violent compared to the rest.

I heard that allegedly the last two episodes are “rushed” in terms of pacing/story-telling.

I'm inclined to believe it because of the runtimes but with how much of a slower pace episodes 6 and 7 had, 8 and 9 were probably going to feel more rushed anyway.

There is some extraneous story in the game they can cut to compress the story down but not sure if they can do much with only two episodes left.

That didn't turn out to be as rushed as I thought it would. It hit all the same important beats as the game.

David was just as creepy and dangerous as he was in the game. I suppose we could have seen more of his community with a few extra minutes but I was fine with what we got. It was strange how everyone except for David and James disappeared once Ellie was brought back. At least in the game the reason was that Joel killed everyone else outside. :o

Seeing ruthless Joel torturing that guy was straight out of the game and something we needed to see.

Bella Ramsey owned this episode. She was downright scary at times.

And I started to tear up at "baby girl". :csad:

I love Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Just nailing the role. Finale should be great and may push over an hour.

So spoilers for the gamers. Do we think that the first episode of Season 2 is going to cover the first couple hours of Last of Us 2? Or do you think they cover period between the 2 games and then do the beginning of the game in the penultimate episode or finale?
