for lack of trying ro hijack this thread, Dreamwave made an INCREDIBLY interesting story of them. Don't give me that "only in the 80s what do you expect" crap.


I GUARANTEE you the trailer for ChunLi will have a lot of **** blowing up....for NO ****ing reason.

This should be a story about revenge and MARTIAL ARTS. But she will fall in love with some white guy and have a make out scene.

Sorry but the 80s thing is truth. Transformers was made to sell the toys, the movie was made to sell the cars. End of story. I can still enjoy the movie on a Saturday morning or on a sick day.

Street Fighter is the same and all these video games. No depth whatsoever. You can remain true to the source but it still looks boring and no one is gonna watch it cause this genre has been done to death.

Its not like comic book movies wheres theres this rich history of different stories from different writers with different interpretations. The video game movie is generic.

A movie about revenge and martial arts is fine but thats generic and cliched as hell too and depends on the director.

On the flip side its a risk and a potential hot mess of a CGI film where you lose the greater audiences intrest. People clinging onto nostalgia too much, an exact remake of the 80s cartoon to film would be just the same.

I wasn't looking for an EXACT remake, but gad damn they just ass raped my childhood memories. Like i said the DREAMWAVE Comics made an incredibly detailed and well written storyline that could have been adapted and I believe would have satisfied everyone.


I get tired of hearing people say "XYZ franchise doesn't have a lot of depth so we have to fill in and or wing it"

I call BULL****.

Street Fighter HAS story and depth. Hell SF2:Movie (japanese) was DAMN good. didn't need any explanations, just an occasional flashback and you were drawn in by the plot and the intense fight scenes ripped from the game.

Miss me with that limited scope stuff.

I grew up on TF, My childhood is still in tact and what it was, I'll never understand this fanboy overexageration of using words like rape b/c film makers take a concept and fit it to the mainstream market and current generation. You don't have to like the movie but it doesn't effect what you did like.

I'm 24 years old lol...the question is how old are you talking about they raped my childhood memories. As much I dont like when Hollywood tries to remake stuff from the 80s and 70s, childhood memories are childhood memories and good propeties should be able to last long and people need to let go of that **** and not even bother complaining about it.

I'm not saying they should wing or fill it but some properties are only at there best in some mediums. Obviously Street Fighter is gonna look better as an anime project cause there is a greater scoper for creativity there. With a movie, you can be 100% faithful to the material, take away all the campness and adjustments and your still gonna get just a generic action film with the tiresome theme of revenge. It will look clean but it will be souless (see Hitman). So you'll appeal to the fanbase,big deal.

Now maybe you can get a talented director to push the storyline and mold but this dude, while good at what he does is not that director. Hes generic and his past work speaks for itself. I dont even think the talented far eastern or american directors would want to touch this property, there looking for creative and fresh projects and lets keep it real.........Street Fighter aint that.

So this is why I say its all a moot point and you know thats the truth.

I just hope that this Movie will turn out somewhat decent. I don't mind Chun Li being the main character, as long as other Street Fighter characters appear, and we witness their struggle through her point of view.

A Street Fighter Movie should be like the easiest thing in the world to do. You've got Bison and his evil organisation bend on World domination from the underground, the rest of the world's military trying to take him out, and some occasional fights here and there. If even Paul Freaking Anderson manages to turn Mortal Kombat in a solid Movie about martial artists defending earth from the forces of Outworld, than everyone else should be able to do the same with Street Fighter.

I can only hope so. So much was correct with the anime version long ago. I just have so much doubt that they can recreate the passion and fear from that Vega / Chun Li fight.....that was so brutal.
