Just for the fun of it let's go casting crazy.

i posted this a while back, but i've also made some changes. keep in mind...this would be a "dream" cast, as in....if money, resources, and time weren't an issue.

My Dream Cast (no limits, hehe)

Ryu: Takashi Kaneshiro (Onimusha, House of Flying Daggers)
takeshi_kaneshiro_01.jpg

Ken: Chris Evans (Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer)

Chun-Li: Kristin Kreuk (Smallville)

i originally wanted Grace Park for Chun-Li

Guile: Matthew Mcconaughey (Reign of Fire)

Blanka: Ron Perlman (Hellboy)

Zangief: Nathan Jones (Troy, Fearless)

Yeah, some of those are a little high profile. Ron Perlman is not needed for Blanka. How about the guy that played Samael in the first Hellboy (he's also playing some monsters in the second one). Brian Steele. He's great with that creature stuff.

Matt McConoughey would be great but he'd make a better Ken than Guile imo. Chris Evans is THE choice for Ken though. Great idea there. We'll most likely be getting someone like Justin Hartley though (Green Arrow on Smallville) which I'd actually be fine with.

Nathan Jones would really make a great Zangief or even Sagat...with enough make up. :oldrazz: Hey, you want Doug Jones as an Indian guy, I don't see why Nathan Jones can't play a Thai.

I agree with your casting choices for the most part though. We seem to have the same idea of a cast.

Doug Jones as Dhalsim?

sure...why not? after all.....

here's a big reason why i'd love to see Doug Jones as Dhalsim...

yeah...of course, it wouldn't be possible because of the money but i edited my first post to say that this is my cast if money weren't an issue.

haha, thanx. i picked Matt for Guile because he fits Guile's age and apperance better imo. plus, i just can't imagine Ken with a southern accent. i've never seen Justin Hatley so i couldn't comment on him...though if this were a real production they probably WOULD go with someone like him since he's an unknown.

Nathan Jones would really make a great Zangief or even Sagat...with enough make up. :oldrazz: Hey, you want Doug Jones as an Indian guy, I don't see why Nathan Jones can't play a Thai.
see who i picked for Sagat then you'll see why i wanted Nathan for Zangief, hehe.

I agree with your casting choices for the most part though. We seem to have the same idea of a cast.
thanx dude...i totally agree with Kaneshiro as Ryu and Michael Jai White as Balrog. those are no brainers...hehe. i can kind of see Tony as Adon, but he doesn't have the weird smile. i honestly don't know who could play Adon...

...Holy ****. I forgot about Daz Crawford. I was just watching Blade Trinity too. Great choices. Especially Ken Watanabe. I was actually thinking of Brian Thompson for Sagat (Shao Kahn of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation) but Daz is a much better choice.

Daz could work, Sagat never looked like a traditional Thai anyway. They could maybe change his origin a bit. Make him half Thai and half English/American/German whatever.

Whoever they cast for Ken and Ryu, they have to be similar in age and build

They can always cast twins and put a blond wig on one of them.

i can't forgive Brian Thompson for Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, hehe...but if i were to pick him for anyone i think he'd be better suited for Bison. anyway, i can't remember who suggested Daz as Sagat, but that's another no brainer imo.

yeah, that'd be cool. it's obvious that Sagat doesn't look Thai, but making him half Europeon would explain how a Thai man could tower over a Japanese man who's already taller than the average Jap...hehe.

I wouldn't worry that much about finding 2 guys with the same build. I found it always strange to have two characters that are almost identical to each other. There's an extreme example of it in Mortal Kombat. Sub Zero and Scorpion, two different persons, yet for some reason they've got the same height, weight and age.

Except in Street Fighter Ken is literally Ryu with a blond wig, red gi and grinning. The man still has jet black eyebrows for some reason. Maybe there's a whole Tyler Durden thing going on with Ryu that we don't know about.

don't worry guys....getting 2 actors of different ethnicity to play twins has worked before right???

:D

I like your cast Dorkyfresh, I would go to see that movie if that was the cast, I was watching live free or die hard last night and Maggie Q would be kick ass as Chun li.

This guy is still Zangief to me :D

"Quick! Change the channel!!!"

What Maggie Q could play chun Li or do you really want Kristen in the role?

I like Takeshi as Ryu, and here's some of my choice as Ryu too

Masaya Kato (Crying Freeman, Drive, Brothers)

Kane Kosugi (DOA The Movie)

That you admit it was NOT ALL THAT only proves my point if Advent Children is the basis of your argument.

thanx dude! that cast would NEVER happen but we can dream right?

eh...don't get me wrong, i think she's hot. Kristen Kreuk might be petite, but at least she's kind of proportionate. Maggie Q is straight up SKINNY!

lol...the sad thing is that's probably the best line in the movie.

Masaya Kato (Crying Freeman, Drive, Brothers)
he could work...he looks a lil' rough though.

Kane Kosugi (DOA The Movie)
doesn't look rough enough...hehe.

k...whatever

Actually your not getting what he is saying, Advent Children depended on the viewer playing FF7 and knowing the story. As a movie by itself it doesn't because of the necessity to know the back story.

But with the knowledge of the story its a quality film, it works very well as a video game adaptation because the character designs, voice acting, story, faithfulness are all quality.

It is possible not to like a movie, and still think it was a quality film.

I think theres 2 things you are ALL forgetting:

1) This is a Chun Li movie so we can forget about Ken, Ryu and Guile

2) This is meant to be set when Chun Li is still a fairly young girl. So in that aspect Kristin has not neccessairly been cast as the Chun Li we all know.
