The only things decent about Romeo Must Die and Exit Wounds were some of the fighting scenes...

Looks like it'll be a quick cash-in movie...

ComingSoon.net broke the news in December that "Smallville" star Kristin Kreuk was set for the role of martial artist Chun-Li in Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom's Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li. Now, Variety adds that Michael Clarke Duncan, Chris Klein and Rick Yune have joined the movie based on the popular Japanese video game franchise.

Duncan will play Balrog, while Klein is stepping into the role of Nash. Yune is taking on the mystical Gen.

Rounding out the cast are Moon Bloodgood, Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas, Singapore's Edmund Chen and Hong Kong film star Cheng Pei Pei.

Producers are still casting the film's villain, Bison.

20th Century Fox will distribute the action pic, set to begin filming in March. Shooting will take place in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Vancouver.

Andrzej Bartkowiak (Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds) is directing from a script written by Voltron writer Justin Marks. Hong Kong fight choreographer Dion Lam (The Matrix) is handling the extreme fight sequences.

Hyde Park chairman Ashok Amritraj and senior executive Patrick Aiello are producing. Video game publisher Capcom executive produces.

"Street Fighter" was previously made into a film in 1994. That Universal pic starred Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia.

Chun li's cool and has some great legs and stuff but I'd really like a Legend of Ryu movie more. He's basically Caine from kung fu but he's more than willing to whoop you. That'd be great, oh well.

Why are they doing it? Ryu and Ken should be the main characters. They're the leads in the games, and they haven't had a proper live action movie yet. It's like making a Mario Bros movie with Peach as the lead. Or making LOTR with Eowyn as the main character.
