Ok, these guys are a major plot point from what we can gather and I thought they deserved their own thread for speculation, discussion, theories, et al.

Here's some questions that pop into my head:

Are they AI, or remote controlled?

If RC, are they controlled collectively by one person(Hammer, who built them) or does each drone have their own operator who work for Hammer(kind of like how the real life Predator Drones are used)?

In the teaser we only see one kind(the same kind is also in toy form in the IM2 toys thread), but in the video game, there are 2 other larger kinds which haven't shown up in the teaser or in the toyline yet. Will there be different kinds in the movie?

That's all I can think of for right now. Discuss.

Me thinks that Hammer controls them thru the same virus he is trying to control Stark with. But the start gets new **** (Triangle) and WM gets the old chest piece and wants to kill IM cuz he is infected

Ahhh.

It starts with a list of characters, now we get to see how they weave in and out!:awesome:

Never been a big fan of 'drone' armies. As a novice writer, I find it to be a convienient plot shortcut. Usually 'drone/clone/zombie' armies are endless.
Thas O.K.

How widely known is Arc tech in the film. If it's widley thought of, that kind of cheapens Stark's genius, if all other scientists need to do is actually see the tech, and then emulate it, that's a hard turn to take. I loved in the first one that Obie told his engineers that Tony built it in a cave out of scraps...well he is Tony Stark claims the engineer. I like that. This army comes out of somebody w/ resources, and Hammer is going to have to get real big, real relevent quick.

Maybe Hammer was the only one able to figure out how it works.
A "YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARD!! I READ YOUR SPECS" moment

He then mass produces it for his own personal army. The army boys can play with them, but one little button push later, Hammer has full control.

Justin: I'm "Dropping the hammer" as they say...

Actually I'm not sure if you guys notice but Ivan has a blueprint from Stark Industries which he seems to be using to build his arc reactor. If i am to speculate I would say that Maybe the Black Widow stole it for him from Tony. And Ivan got together with Justin Hammer and they develop these drones using elements from the blueprint.

i mention about the drones in another thread. i believe Howard Stark created them.

Howard Stark was involved in the Manhattan Project and he also created robots called the Arsenal with a control unit code-named Mother it was hidden in the mansion. The Arsenal robots also was supposed to be activated if the US was overrun during a presumed Cold War conflict. the Mother had a persona and brain patters of Howard Stark wife Maria Stark.

Maybe like during the Armor War, Stark's technology is compromised in IM2 and Hammer was able to use it to create the drones. And it's quite possible that Black Widow was the one who stole the specs from Stark.

That's essentially the same one or thing that was in Avengers Disassembled then right?

I like this idea... I think it is plausible that Howard Stark buried them away somewhere that Tony doesn't know about... hence the blue print/hole digging picture.

I believe Hammer builds the drones to assist War Machine to either capture or destroy the Iron Man technology, but actually plans to use them to kill Stark and everything connected to him, as his admiration for Stark descent into envy and bitterness.

I just read Avengers Dis, hell I'm drawing a blank on the name too. ffff---

That's why I prefer them to all be operated by RC with a single operator per drone. With the OP's being in some bunker or tech center somewhere and having Hammer be the guy who's in charge of them. They're his employees, they work for him and their loyalty is to him.

This is reasonable. War Machine hunts down Iron Man with the drones, but when IM is down and WM gets ready to apprehend him the drones go for the kill, which prompts WM to help IM out against the drones.

I count 8 TCD's following War Machine. So not really an army of them, but more like a squad.

A squad could be PART of an army...

Plus... we know they probably encounter them twice cuz Tony is wearing the new armor when WM is chasing after him

Boo...these drones are just a way to have violence without killing people...I hate this idea...

What's wrong without just blowing away tons of drones? They aren't going for violence and killing people. They're going for action.

This isn't the TDK.

Like mummys, or ghost pirates, or undead pirates...or people who can't die...these are just plot points for mindless action without any death...really over done...sure it will be cool...but when finally after 10 minutes of killing dornes...it will just be dumb...
