Iron Man 2 The 'Let's Talk Tactical Combat Drones' thread

Ahhh.

It starts with a list of characters, now we get to see how they weave in and out!:awesome:

Never been a big fan of 'drone' armies. As a novice writer, I find it to be a convienient plot shortcut. Usually 'drone/clone/zombie' armies are endless.
Thas O.K.

How widely known is Arc tech in the film. If it's widley thought of, that kind of cheapens Stark's genius, if all other scientists need to do is actually see the tech, and then emulate it, that's a hard turn to take. I loved in the first one that Obie told his engineers that Tony built it in a cave out of scraps...well he is Tony Stark claims the engineer. I like that. This army comes out of somebody w/ resources, and Hammer is going to have to get real big, real relevent quick.

Well, there's the giant Arc Reactor that was created by Stark (now we know Anton Vanko helped build it as well). The problem is that they don't know how to miniaturize the technology, which is what Tony figured out how to do. It's possible the blueprint Vanko has is an original (his father's), and figured out how to shrink it down. If Hammer employs Vanko to show him how it was done, or takes the reactor from Vanko's prototype build, then his team of scientists can mass produce it through reverse engineering.

^I actually like that. It makes sense.

So Vanko is just as intelligent as Stark?

For all we know, Hammer caught wind of Whiplashes intentions for Stark after the race track scene.

Question: How we go from tactical drones to whiplash and Hammer? Eh Don't care But what if this old tech strk is looking for turns out to be the drones. Does Hammer really have the guts to go there?

The Drones are Hammers part, Hammer has his own agenda.

I would assume he is since his father helped Howard Stark build the reactor.

hmmm... That is a pretty large assumption that just because a father is smart than the son will be smart as well

Well he may not be quite as smart as Tony(over all) but he may have as much if not more understanding of the arc reactor's technology due to the knowledge being passed to him from his father. This could allow him to succeed where all of Stane's engineers failed.

Back on topic, I posted a theory in another thread that the TCD's could provide a base for what may become the movie's version of the Guardsman armors. They do happen to share the same avacado green coloring.

I could see it. Now that you mention it, it would've been cool if they were using the Guardsmen in place of the drones.

But Guardsmen are just that, prison guards for super criminals. They aren't cops. That's why I think these drones are a logical starting place for what MAY be the Guardsmen. But you wouldn't have them starting out that way right at the begining. I mean, so far the only one they'd have to 'guard' is the Abomination and even that not really since TIH occurs after IM2. Plus it's doubtful that any number of Guardsmen could handle Blonsky.

You know... I just watched the first one over again... and they were trying to reproduce the armor in that movie... So the blue prints could have totally gotten out and someone else could start making them... However, that doesn't explain why all the robots are different "types" - I'm not entirely sure if they are different types, but from what I remember from the trailer, they aren't all systematically the same. If that is true, that suggests prototypes to me, which makes me think of the Howard Stark basement theory again. (I just like that theory)

Personally I think they look a little like Titanium Man. But that could just be the coloring.

Well, in the SDCC footage we know Tony isn't really interested in joining Fury's Avenger Initiative, yet at the end of TIH he was fully on board with it. So IM2 seems to come before TIH.

I can see that too, but I'd prefer they saved TM for further down the road. Guardsmen however, fill a different function and would be cool to see. Of course, they need prisoners to guard.

Hmm...good point. I never thought about that.

Smart thinking... VERY smart.

Maybe the SuperBowl TV Spot will reveal more into these theories.
