The Lightning Saga, JLA/JSA Crossover

not sure i agree with that. although i would kill to see kilowog on the league. but he never will.

He was such a badass in Ion 11, when the doctor comes in and he just stands in front of him and goes "We're friends...from far away..." then kicks him out. Tell you the truth he's one of the only reasons I still pick up GLC.

Even having Vixen on the team is better than having Hal on the League?

At least Hal is a Green Lantern and was a founding member of the Leauge.
What's so wrong with Vixen? She's not as boring as Hal, at least. That's statistically impossible.

What the f*** kind of question is that? Of course Vixen is better than Hal. What part of "anything" don't you understand?

If you actually read the main Green Lantern title, you would see that Hal is not boring at all.

Hahaha, good joke, no one could ever actually read the Green Lantern title, because it's so boring it would kill you.

True.

I'm sure Zatanna, Firestorm, the Atom and Plastic Man all got a lot of negative comments before they became fan favorite.

I like the team, so I say wait and see.:yay:
Yup.

The original Firestorm got heat and whining on Joining the JLA,.. Plastic Man? The Elongated man fans whined about that for a bit,..

I really wish folk would try the 8 to 10 issue test before whining.

Geoforce once whooped Superman, Vixen was very good in Birds of Prey,... And Black Lightning was great in his last limited series,...

(trip)

I don't have any problems with the roster beyond Hal's being there at all and Red Tornado's effectively replacing the Martian Manhunter. The pacing and style of the book are just not what I'm looking for from the JLA. JSA is what I want from my team books. I can understand a short arc to set up the JLA's return, but 8 issues? I miss the balls-to-the-wall craziness of the previous JLA series.

He should probably go back and read the first arc of Morrisons run. First issue was like "BAM ACTION" and basically gave you the main cast of the JLA without any real introduction. Pretty good opening arc if you ask me. I re-read the opening Tornado Arc of v4 and it's just kinda meh. Theres a LOT of dead space and panels in it.

The Justice League needs the Big 7. No debate in that. Period.
No, it doesn't. Certainly not all at once (Aquaman especially). Varying lineups keep things fresh, although Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman should be kept on to ensure the League is always #1.

You can have varying line-ups while keeping the big 7. Morrison's line-up hovered around 14 for nearly the entire run.

I personally prefer teams to have 5-7 members (also, if a writer has no stories for a particular character, it's silly to compel them to keep said character around).

Seriously. Johns made him cool. Though I've never been a huge GL fan, I was always a Kyle boy myself. My first memory of a Green Lantern was a crazy Hal with all those rings on his fingers. Then a couple months later, it's Kyle Rayner.

Kinda scary to think that my first exposures to comics was during the nineties with things like Knightfall and the death of Superman.

The sad truth is John is more interesting than Hal. Fact.

I like having big teams. As big as Meltzers team.

Having Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman always on the team kinda bores me. Not completely, as I like Wonder Woman and batman, but i've always had a problem with mainstays.

The only real problem I have is Roy being Red Arrow. If DC wants to so badly hint in clues to Kingdom Come actually being the future for the DCU peeps...then they should have stories that slowly show how that happens. With Roy this happened all so suddenly...it makes no sense.

I haven't read anything with Vixen in it, but JLU and the Timmverse made me like her so I wouldn't mind seeing how she develops to be a valuable member of the team.

Hawkgirl? I can't really complain too much. While I didn't enjoy her being on JL and JLU in the Timmverse, the comics is a different story almost. But I also don't see the need for her.

Only reason seeing Hal bothers me is because I would rather see either a different Green Lantern or just a different member of the team. Never was a Green Lantern fan but at the same time this isn't a personal issue.

I'm cool with Black Lightning being on the team. It would be nice to see hwo he develops to be a valuable member as I said for Vixen.

I don't know anything about Geo Force to really say anything about him.

Black Canary on the team? Fine. But leading it? I'm not saying that only Superman can lead or something, but...Dinah? Why?

Dude having Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash, and Aquaman all in one book is like buying six comic books...for the price of one :wow:

Well Ms. Marvel is leading the Mighty Avengers in an equally "who/what the **** cares" kind of moment...maybe it's a trend.

No its not. Maybe back in the 70's, that was cool and all "Oh ****, this book has 20 characters, wow!" but its not true today.

Batman's ears are too short and Alan Scott still looks silly in that outfit. Powergirl as a character is good but her depiction gets more and more annoying with each 'angle boob up close' shot. Cripes, we get it...she has a big chest. So what. Show a tight shot of Superman's crotch or something, at least change up.

Other than that the art looks great (altho I don't know if that's just for the cover or not).

At both his MySpace page and blog Brad Meltzer has posted the fully revealed version of Michael Turner's full cover to Justice League of America #8 which kicks off the JLA/JSA/Legion of Super-Heroes crossover (the guy with the high collar is Karate Kid - no, not Ralph Macchio - he still works as an editor at Marvel(*)).

Meltzer wrote:

"Seven days until JLA/JSA kicks off, so here's a peek at Michael Turner's actual cover. Also, just got the new covers for all the novel covers (publisher is redoing them all (from Tenth Justice to Zero Game) for when The Book of Fate comes out in paperback in 2 weeks). As I get the final images, I'll post them here next week as well.

Plus, wait till you see who's doing the intro for the JLA hardcover collecting The Tornado's Path..."

But back to that Karate Kid thing - while Karate Kid is a long-time member of the Legion of Super-Heroes in all its iterations over the years, this outfit is...retro. That is, the outfit isn't what the Karate Kid has been most recently seen wearing in Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes, but rather what he used to wear a reboot or two back. Circa the '70s, when he was drawn by Mike Grell or Dave Cockrum.

And someone who seemed to be Dream Girl was in Justice Society of America #4. Oh, and Starman over in JSA seems to be from the Legion's timeline as well, but...older...

Yeah, yeah - color us confused too.

The solicitation for the issue reads:
