I enjoyed Torment for it's artistic achievements. The story was poor, sure. However, a comic is a visual art form too. Given that, it was very entertaining, good guy vs. bad guy, drawn fantastically.

I didn't even like the art to be honest. anyway I'm putting it on ebay.
my favorite spidey artists are
ditko - best ever
bagley
frenz
romita jnr - first run

Why not? Puppeterrs and make up artists have made very photorealistic lizard men in the past. The Lizard can easily be a guy in a suit and make up with puppetry for the tail and jaw.
Yeah, but what about fights that take place in spots that would be difficult for stunt men and things like that?

Well, yes, if you've planned a scene that would be physically impossible to do, at least without serious risk of injury to the actors, then yes, they should use CGI. But that's that's just reasonable for any scenario when filming.

Todd McFarlane
Alex Saviuk
Sal Buscema
Erik Larson
Marcos Martin

True. However, I still think they should balance both out. Heck, I think that's what they're going to do.

Mine are (in no particular order)

Steve Ditko/John Romita Sr. (Both equally amazing)
John Romita Jr.
Ron Frenz
Sal Buscema
Ross Andru
Mark Bagley
Todd Mcfarlane

Nice some Sal Buscema love, I think he was severly under-appreciated as a Spider-Man artist

Maybe the last battle could use more CGI than alot of the other scenes, I'd like to see Lizard battle Spidey earlier on in the film, maybe have a few fights. When he reverts back to Connors, he notices he has blood on his jacket (from the scratches seen in the photo) analyzes the blood and finds that it has radioactive **** it in, he injects some in himself and it transforms him into an even more enhanced version of himself

bit of both i guess. When it comes to closeup encounters with spidey - practical effects for sure

depends on the look of The Lizard really, If it's this style:

CGI would bring the face to life IMO, it can do things they just can't with prosthetics.

It really does depend in the character though, the less human he is the more CGI will be used.

personally i prefer the smaller one rather than the giant one, but i'd be happy enough with the ultimate version as it sort of meets in the middle.

Mix of both. Man in a suit would be a bad idea. I don't want him to look like a creature from the black lagoon

I'm sorry, but is it even for SURE that Curt Connors becomes the Lizard in this movie!??? Hasn't been told official yet.

Rhys Ifans has been confirmed to be the villain. So, I don't think Curt Connors will be acting as a villain without becoming the Lizard.

I would think it depends on how the tranformations take place. Will it be a gradual transformation in which he shows physical characteristics of the lizard and he is beginning to lose control before he becomes full blown lizard which would be mostly CGI.

Hey guys I have a question....you know the new pic we got the the "Claw Marks" on spideys Chest....well all the pics I have seen of the Lizard he has always had 5 claws not three, yet people are saying he has three......anyone have a pic of this because I have never seen him with 3 only 5.

I bought 'torment' to see what the fuss was about and it was frigging RUBBISH.

Its by far the worst spiderman story I have ever read

and I've read OMD, mad dog ward and the clone saga.

for the actual design of the lizard then definitely the McFarlane design

I disagree. Torment may not have been the most incredible story, but it was defenitely better than OMD.

Best of both worlds

Why would pure CGI be more expensive?

why would pure cgi be more expensive? because it costs thousands of dollars a second, that's why. with a practical suit, once it's built, you just shoot it like any other actor. with a digital character even after it's created, you still have to digitally insert it into the shot, often removing the motion-capture actor first, and then animate the character. that all takes lots of time [to do it right] and that equals money.

i could see them doing something like Abe in the Hellboy movies - a guy in make-up with digital enhancements as needed [eye blinks, etc.]. the drawing that deanj2009 posted above [and that's what the Lizard should look like] could easily and affordably be done this way.

the production would be lucky they get a Lizard half as memorable as the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

CG all the way , 100% CG for the Lizard, they did big lizards perfectly and very lifelike(i am guessing as i am not a time travelling caveman) twenty years ago in Jurrasic Park, so I don't see why they can't give us a perfect Lizard here. Ironically, the thing that might look fake CG wise are his clothes, but they will be good enough(thinking of the way CG Neo's clothes looked in MR). The main thing to make sure of is that the Lizard looks like a real creature, and not a cartoon added to the mix(like the Hulks, or the I am Legend vamps), and it is one type of life they have shown they can get right with CGI.
Imagine a Lizard leaping around that looked as scary as real as the velociraptors, man, if they got it that good they would probably scale it back a bit(pun intended), so's not to freak out the kids, but they should just go for it and give us an all time great, scary, memorable villan.

I'd like lizard to be able to pick up spidey with one hand and throw him, so the height difference is going to be like arnie v the predator so we are talking maybe a foot and a half difference therefore with andrew being 6 foot tall the lizard would have to be pushing 8 foot.

if you can find a guy that is 7 1/2 foot plus then by all means do the effects practically but I doubt you'll find such a person.
