i read on TMT about the colors. POTC movies are not so saturated. tehy used a lot of desaturated colors.

about Depp as Tonto. of course he looks like this. he looked like this when the movie made over 1 billion

Hammer as the Long Ranger looks surprisingly awesome. Depp looks good as always, but image didn't help shake the feeling that him in this role is the Native American equivalent of "black face".

I'm not looking forward to the film but it's just one photo guys.

Personally I think that Verbinski is a solid director but he does need to work with a good or decent script to succeed. If this movie sucks I don't think that he is going to be the most at fault for that happening.

The pic looks a bit like Jack Sparrow with white face paint and the Mentalist with a mask and a cowboy hat. However, i'm gonna withhold my judgement of how the film is gonna be , given that its just a still without any context.

They really amp up Tonto's look, don't know what to think about it, it's going to take some time to let it sink. Lone Ranger's though, does somewhat resemble his classic look. I'm still looking to see what'll be the results of this, hoping for the best since Verbinski is directing this.

Wow this looks awful depp looks ridiculous(maybe is his expression and that crow on his head) and that's not the lone ranger. They decided to give him a regular suit(jacket pants white shirt) instead of his classic LR outfit. They should have gone with the dynamite comics look atleast.

Agreed. While I think Depp is great as an actor, a white guy playing a native american doesn't really work so well.

I agree, I usually get up in arms about this type of casting but even I don't care this time. I just don't. Johnny Depp and Verbinski are the only reason this project exists and Depp seems to have a thing for Native Americans so of course he was going to play Tonto. I guess some can bring this up next time I bring up the race thing but I honestly don't care one way or the other this time.

He can easily pass as an Amerindian Hispanic or just a straight up Native American.

You know, this is somewhat the look I expected. I certainly never expected Hammer to wear Clayton Moore's outfit. That just wouldn't work. A 3-piece black suit? Somehow, I like it. Lone Ranger meets Wyatt Earp! Depp as Tonto looks excellent!

This is the first positive sign I've had of this film in a while. We'll see how more unfolds...
